I have been a loyal Asics Gel-Kayano customer for the last decade. The 25 model was fantastic, lasted me over a year and felt great from the moment I put them on until the moment I retired them. Why mess with the formula? Walking and running are extremely important exercises to feel comfortable doing. I skipped the 26 model, and waited for the 27. The toe box on 27 is made of a cheap material that folds inwards, cuts into my big toes and causes blisters. The shoe looks great, but if I'm going to spend a small fortune for a top of the line running shoe, it better feel great, too. ... show more

These shoes hurt your feet and they get worn out really easily. I've owned many different versions of the Gel-Kayanos over the years and these are the worst ones I've owned. I wish I returned them when I still had the chance. Something is wrong with the toe area and the arch hurts my feet. I've never had that happen with other Gel-Kayano versions, so I think the 27s have issues. ... show more

    • So Very Very Different

Me: 6' 250lbs 3 miles a day/5 days a week I have enjoyed running in the Kayano model for many years now. The 27 brought MAJOR changes to the line that have (I suspect) immediately given me plantar fasciitis in my foot. Here are my three biggest take aways: 1. (Pro) - seems to have more cushion than in past models. I liked this. 2. (Con) - Fit: the toebox is immense. I have always ordered 4E shoes a half size down and it's like a swimming pool for the front of my feet. The upper foot laced area is smaller. I can't lace and tie the shoes and actually cover the width of the tongue. For a 4E, huge toe but small upper? So weird. 3. (Con) - the midsole shank. The Kayanos have always had a crossover style shank that allows for some torsion. The new model has a solid plastic cap. FAR more restrictive. I believe this is what led to my foot pain. In fact, on my first run, both of my feet were aching about a mile and a half in. I've dealt with the foot pain for two weeks now, and about 30 miles. I had to give in and finally try a different shoe. Today I went for my first run in the Brooks Adrenaline and it felt much better. Sorry ASICS. ... show more

    • WAY TOO SMALL! DONT BUY!

I have had Kayano 20 thru 25, always size 13 4E (Extra Wide). The overall fit on those 6 models was not always the same, but at least they were consistent over time. Then came the 26, and it was way way too small. And now the 27 is a bad joke. It feels like a tight compressor around my feet. 26 and 27 are MASSIVE FAILS, so it's time to try a different brand ... show more

    • ASICS changed Manufacturers!
I've been a long time ASICS Gel Kayano fan. I just bought the new 27 model after having the 25 and there is a material difference in the fit and finish of the shoe. The shoe doesn't fit the same. My foot is tight through the width and my toes are cramped. Also, the shoelaces are too short to properly tie! I noticed my 25's were made in China and the 27's in Vietnam. ASICS definitely changed the manufacturer and the quality has suffered. Super disappointed. ... show more

A little over a month ago i was told my sugar was on the cusp of being diabetic. Since then I have dropped my sugar on average by 60 and lost 30lbs by eating better and going for a daily walk. Back under 300lbs for the first time in a while. For this, i purchased the first quality shoe i have ever owned, the mens Asics Gel Kayano 27. I always thought expensive shoes were a waste. Boy was I wrong. My calf and hamstring no longer hurt while walking and the shoe makes me feel like I want to keep moving. I am now excited to go out every day. When you put it on the crease it’s very noticeable the contour support is not there as in the other shoe I tried to rescue it by placing a piece of light cardboard but it doesn’t work . I’m a Fanatic about the brand sooooooooo there

Two issues with these shoes. The first issue which I have uploaded photos of show the issue with the toe box. I normally wear a size 12 wide shoe but I got a 12.5 wide for running. The toe box is so soft that it creases in multiple places when you walk or put any type of pressure on them. The creases push into your toes causing a huge annoyance that isn’t possible to forget while running. I sadly neglected to do my proper research as if you look there’s dozens of pictures of this issue with complaints all of the Internet. I wouldn’t recommend these shoes at all. The second issue is that in the sole of the show, on the outside of your foot it feels as if there’s a small ball under the shoe. Super uncomfortable and unknown if all of these have it or mine were just a defect. ... show more
