As a runner who averages about 3 miles per day, these are a great value for a comfortable, neutral, and durable runner. It doesn't excel at anything in particular other than value, although personally I like how they run a little wide. I purchased them as backups, but find myself choosing them as my daily jogger more and more often. That said, if you're looking for plush and cushy, this is not your shoe. It offers plenty of cushion while running, but doesn't compromise stability and light feel for a running/walking on clouds feel. The ASICS Men’s Gel-Contend Running Shoes are an excellent value and very comfortable right out of the box. I have had feet issues and swear by these! The color looks great in person and matches the photos online—clean, modern, and easy to pair with workout or casual clothes. Comfort was important for daily wear. These are the only shoes I wear now. I have one great pair, one good pair and two that are pre-loved and help me mow the lawn. They stay comfortable all day & the news ones do not need a break-in period. Critical for me is excellent cushioning and arch support, especially for heel impact. I need confidence in my shoes. I am a female with large feet. ASICS have been my go to shoe since graduate school, when I started running and a specialized running store suggested they would be a great shoe for me. They are comfortable, supportive, and good quality. The colors are great.

If you have normal feet with no issues, then this is a good budget friendly walking shoe. I have wide feet, high arch, and supination - so these shoes cause me mild pain at the ball of my foot (metatarsalgia). And yes, I made sure I got the right size, so this is not a sizing issue. I will just stick with their high-end Nimbus 28 instead, as those have amazing cushioning at the forefoot and all-around. ... show more
