The shoes are comfy, but about a size to size and a half smaller than advertised. I got them for my dad, but he couldn't wear them, so they became mine.

I walk a minimum of 2 miles a day on concrete in the inner city daily. I developed health issues that would often impact my knees and feet, and my doctors finally suggested trying different shoes as there was no medical evidence of anything that required an operation or physical therapy. The act of walking on concrete alone every day or standing for large periods of time never bothered me throughout my life until this past year when I hit 50 years of age. My "go-to" pairs of Nike running shoes and Hurley walking shoes were showing significant wear after three years but the typical brands I buy were not helping with the constantly present pain. I have never purchased a pair of ASICS, but after research I gave these a shot blindly. WOW! What a relief! From the minute I put them on I felt the support and they hugged my feet well. The sturdy build kept my posture straight, but I was concerned about the break in period. Other brands would fail after a day or two on foot. Not these! I walked close to seven miles the very first day with NO PAIN during or after, and that is nothing short of a miracle. I will definitely be purchasing more pairs, as any shoes I buy that work well end production within a year or so and cycle out for a newer version that are not always well made. Thanks ASICS!

The first pair I had got was defected, the bottom part was misaligned so it felt very weird but I sent it back and got another pair that was perfect! I always get these for running. They are inexpensive but last a good while. I had the old version before and upgraded to this one. They been doing me very good. They are very light and comfortable, sometimes I even wear them just as regular shoes when I feel like being extremely comfortable :)

I exercise walk for about an hour each day reaching about 4 miles on concrete. These feel great on my feet for any activity. I have tried other sneakers and the ASICS Men's Gel-Contend series has always worked best for me. They can easily be had for around $40, with shipping included, when on sale. I am a heel striker and the heel wears out before the rest of the tread. I usually get about 3 to 6 months wear out of these before replacing, because of worn tread...between 360 to 720 miles. In the photos above, the shoes I am reviewing are the grey ASICS Men's Gel-Contend 7. The shoes with the black with blue stripes are ASICS Men's Gel-Contend 6. As you can see the styling has changed from the 6 to the 7. Also, the ASICS Men's Gel-Contend 6 tread is on the left and the 7s are on the right. Notice the change there also. Not sure if the 7 tread will have more mileage or not since I have not been able to use these yet. The new 7s do feel very comfortable on my feet with the first try on. I always go up a half size with any running shoe, as I have done with these, in a medium/standard width.

I recently purchased a pair of ASICS shoes, and I have mixed feelings about them. On the positive side, these shoes offer an incredibly comfortable fit and cushioning, which is perfect for long walks and light jogging. The softness and support in the sole make every step feel like walking on clouds. However, there are a couple of things to keep in mind before buying these shoes. First, if you need significant arch support, you might find these lacking in that department. I have fallen arches, and I had to insert additional insoles to get the support I needed. So, if arch support is essential for you, be prepared to make that adjustment. Secondly, the sizing was a bit tricky for me. I usually wear a size 12-12.5, but with these ASICS shoes, I had to size up to a 13 to get the right fit. It's crucial to follow the manufacturer's sizing guide and, if possible, measure your foot accurately before purchasing. This can save you the hassle of returns and exchanges. In conclusion, these ASICS shoes are a great choice if you're looking for comfort and cushioning, but be aware of potential issues with arch support and sizing.
