This was the perfect piece for my daughter's hair. Because of the look she wanted, the vine was trimmed and pinned around a bun instead of the long "vine" look. It would have worked either way. The piece is delicate, but designed in such a way as to accentuate the bride's hair. It could work with or without a veil (she did not wear a veil). Please note (clearly stated in description AND printed on packaging) that the item can NOT be returned if package is opened. The packaging is CLEAR and the headpiece can be viewed prior to opening. Not overbearing but just enough to add a wedding-ish look. I didn't wear as a headband but instead gathered in the back of my hair.
