I bought these after reading the positive feedback on Amazon from all you hiking folks. I bought these as performance boots as I went on my band's first tour up the West Coast of the US and I knew the weather was going to be very rainy and maybe even snowy. These boots did not disappoint as I wore them a week straight playing 30-45 minutes every night (cycling back and forth with my waterproof Merrill hiking shoes during the day). Occasionally I had to walk them through the mud during our rainiest parts of tour but they held up well. My only complaint (if it is one) is that they are slightly on the bulkier side - I would love it if they were a bit more refined in style like at true Chelsea (to be a bit more fashionable) but this isn't really a huge complaint. They basically touched on everything I was looking for: comfortable, little-to-no break-in period, no scratching around the boot opening (kind to my delicate tights), good color and importantly, look good on stage and with tights and a skirt which is my normal stage attire. These are perhaps the most comfortable boots I own. I wear western style boots almost daily as they are extremely practical and versatile. While I love all of my boots, I was tired of the leather being damaged by the rain and snow so I started the hunt for some water resistant boots. These boots have exceeded my expectations! I received them today in the midst of a sudden snowstorm and was able to put them to good use right away. Despite running around in the yard in the snow and wet grass with my dogs the They are extremely comfortable, have great traction, look nice and most importantly are water resistant. Are they expensive? That depends on your concept of expense when it comes to shoes. For my needs and wants I feel like the price is more than fair. I needed a sturdy, water resistant boot and I wanted one that was stylish and comfortable. The shipping was prompt. The boots were delivered in an Ariat box with all of the regular paperwork and tags you would find in a box from a shoe store. The Ariat box was wrapped in a typical plastic enveloping wrapping and was quite easy to open. I have attached a photo of what the boots look like in person.     • Great boots that hold up to lots of walking and travel - Updated Dec. 2018

The more you wear these the more you love them! These boots are perfect travel boots. Easy to slip on and off at the airport and on planes when you need a solid boot that you can walk in all day in all weather. I wore these all over Korea in November in heavy ran and snow and my feet stayed dry. They are not a winter boot but even in wet snow and mid 20's my feet were warm. They also seem to breath even though they are waterproof on the lower part. I have worn them at least 3 to 4 days a week and they have aged well and always comfortable. They do loosen up a bit as you wear them but no major break in was needed and I have super tender feet. The best part is these work well as a nice casual boot that can hold up for miles of walking each day. They really saved me as a good travel boot and now an every day casual boot to wear with jeans. I would buy another pair but these seem like they will hold up for the long haul. ONE YEAR LATER: DEC. 2018 - I still love these boots and just wanted to check to make sure these were still available. My boots are holding up great but the thought of wearing them out one day makes me want to order another pair for the future. In the winter I wear good wool socks and in the summer, lighter weight socks. I've worn these from Asia to South Dakota, Texas to Tennessee. They work year round and clean up well, the bottom soles are holding up very well considering I wear them constantly. I hope Ariat keeps these in their line! ... show more

Absolutely love these. Fell into a several inch deep muddy puddle and the shoe didn't let any wetness in. Very impressed with the water resistance. True to size. Very comfortable to wear all day outdoors.

    • Good for walking Europe in snow and rain

I wore these to walk all over Belgium on uneven streets in January in snow and rain, without even breaking them in first. They remained comfortable and bone dry. The only issue i experienced was a bit of chafing on the calves when I wore them with shorter socks, but that was easily remedied by wearing socks taller than the boots. Boots were great at first but it's been 5 months and they are already falling apart. The heels are coming apart. Would not recommend for the price you pay.
