For reference, my measurements are 44, 34, 44 - that's me using a measuring tape and pulling until it meets, but not pulling to where there's an indention of any kind. I normally wear size 12 or 14 in pants/jeans, or large or x-large. I've been working out and losing weight and inches so it's been hard to find the right jeans. I FOUND THEM. I've bought 2 pairs of these jeans (31 regular - too long, and 32 short - gets loose after wearing them; both are Spitfire) to decide which fit better.... and the winner is... 31 Short! There is no spillage over the waistline. They fit my short, curvy figure just right! I will say though that i did have a tummy tuck so that may help with any spillage, but i do have some pudge here and there that these jeans hold in nicely and in all the right places. ... show more

Purchased 29S spitfire, turned out to be the perfect fit except the "short" length isn't actually short enough but oh well. That's why I knocked off 1 star from my rating. I normally wear an 8-10 in pants, 10 these days so the Ariat size chart is spot on. I have thick muscled thighs and a little curve going on with moderate booty and these look good on me. Can't imagine they'd look good on someone without any hip or butt though. POCKETS! Let me tell you, these have actual pockets that I can fit something in, not like some girl jeans that pretend to have pockets but good luck even getting your spare change to stay in them. These pockets can reasonably hold my smart phone, hurrah! Let's see, the mid rise originally had me worried because I'm accustomed to low rise but the waistband is really comfortable and of course I wear multiple times between washing so they stretch a little but not as much as my old jeans with higher spandex %. The fit in the thighs is actually comfortable - I've never had a pair of jeans that weren't skin tight on my big thighs until these! They are fitted, not loose, but finally a pair of jeans where I don't feel like I'm stretching them out to their limits just by virtue of pulling them up over my thighs. Plus the higher in the back waist is just to die for, I hate flashing my buttcrack if I bend over (that's something only a kid should get away with, if then) but these jeans take care of that and protect me. These are a pretty average boot cut... I'm not sure why other reviewers have said they're bell bottoms or flare because they're not. Due to the length (I have very short legs), I still have to cuff my jeans at the bottom but at least then I'm not stepping on the hem of my brand new jeans. Did find after the first wash a surprising amount of pocket lint in the back pockets, maybe it's just excess string from the pattern embroidered on the pockets, lol. So far so good, I can't speak to how long they'll last (seem like good quality so not anticipating issues) but starting out I am so happy that I took the chance ordering pants on Amazon!!! I wear a size 12. 5 foot 7. Ordered 32 regular. WAY too big and WAAAAYYYYY too long!! If a R is too long-I guess I order a short 31, which I did. The regular length was 8 inches too long and the short is 2 inches too short, BUT having extra belt looks made them worth a post washer stretch!

I just love the fit of these jeans. So comfortable. I’m 5’11 and plus size. Bought the 34 long. They are almost a little too long but can never complain about that!! I normally wear a size 16 “old navy” or an 18 if I want to play it safe. These are a perfect fit and no belt needed! They are a mid rise for my big butt, but sit at my waist with NO sagging in the crotch area! Will definitely be buying more! ... show more

    • thicker denim, but not the thickest
A bit disappointed. It's really hard to find good quality, thick denim these days. In the small town where I live now, there is only one style of one brand (Wrangler) of women's jeans that both fit me and have denim thick enough to stand up to farm work (come to think of it, I don't think any of the other jeans have anything close to thick denim). I see plenty of reviewers commenting that this is good quality, thick denim - and I agree it's better than most of what is sold these days - but in my opinion "thick" denim is just not what it used to be. I guess I'm getting a little old. Ha. Nonetheless, given my limited jeans options, I think I'll keep them and see how they do. Fit is pretty good - I'm 5'6," 105 lbs, usually wear about 4 if a little big on me - bought 26R in these and fit is totally acceptable. Could probably stand a 25 (and have a pair coming so we'll see). Tip for other prospective buyers: I think the trick here is to go by hip measurement, rather than waist - my waist is actually 28" at it's smallest point, but my hips are only 34.5" at their largest point (though I don't think I'd attempt 0 US/24 which lists 34.5" for hips). Use the size chart! (Conversion from US sizes seems to work too.) Inseam is a bit long (I'm 5'6", usually 32" is about as long as I can go, these regulars are listed at 33," I measured them at 33 1/4") - on me they drag on the ground in stocking feet and are close to dragging in my boots. My bad - I should've checked Ariat's listed inseam lengths. I agree with other reviewers that the boot cut is a bit wide - I wouldn't go so far as to call it a flared bottom, but wider than I'd like. ... show more
