This set fits the 5th gen 4Runner. By set I mean set. It’s not just the front skid. It’s 3 skids and a diff skid. These are steel. Not aluminum. Where else can you get coverage from the front to the back of your transmission for what these cost? Good price. Solid construction. The instructions are typical ARB terrible. TOYOTA PRADO 120 -150 - 4RUNNER - FJ CRUISER ARB SKID PLATES (5421100) ARB 5421100 Uvp Set Prado 120/150 W/O I purchased this item from TruckPartsRUs on Amazon on 11/7/2015. I have had it installed on my 2012 Toyota 4Runner which has a modified OME suspension and ARB Bullbar since January 2016 and this skid plate is extremely rugged. I have been very satisifed with the level off protection provided, as well as the appearance. Cons: Instructions provided are cryptic and do not really apply to US vehicles. The mounting hardware provided is substandard. In addition, I have a lift spacer in front, so I wound up replacing most of of the mounting hardware with higher grade allen cap screws and appropriate lock washers, S.S. spacers, etc. The plates must be removed for routine engine service so do yourself a favor and get some decent machine screws. I will probably saw a hole to allow for oil changes without removing the whole darn assembly every time. These could have been engineered better, and I am surprised there was no thought give to details such as this at this price. I installed these on my '07 GX470. They are around 2X as thick as the factory plates and half the cost of other aftermarket plates. However, they are not perfect: 1. The powdercoating was chipped in several. Overall it is decent, but not great quality. 2. The front two bolts (into the core support) are M6 on my GX, but the ARB bolts are M8. I drilled out the core support bolts and re-tapped them to M8. 3. The instructions are not very good, but it is also not hard to figure out the install if you are a DIY wrencher with some experience. 4. The transfer skidplate holes did not line up with the holes on the transfer case. I installed 5/6 of the bolts and hit the plate with a hammer a few times to get everything to line up. Overall, I'd get these again. They are stout and cheap, and great for a GX that goes off-road. The install is not quite a 100% bolt on, but not terrible either. It took me around 4 hours. Definitely a huge improvement over the factory plates. ... show more

I spent a long time doing research and watching a lot of videos prior to choosing the ARB skid plates. This is a great compromise between the heavy duty and much heavier skid plates from other manufacturers and the lightweight and much less coverage plates that come with the truck. I’m sure they will be able to provide very good protection for the underside of my truck (I don’t intend on doing the hard core trails in which an armored vehicle is necessary). I like the price…the powercoating scratches very easily, the provided nuts and bolts do not provide the best protection. There is something to be desired about what bolts they choose to use in what places. Many are not flush and stick out lower than the plate.

The product is great, and fits fairly well, with a little massaging. It's designed to fit several different versions of the vehicle, which makes the instructions somewhat confusing. The rearmost panel interferes with an exhaust pipe on the Lexus GX470. The instructions said to jack the exhaust up. I ended up securing the front of the panel as instructed, then used a jack with a piece of wood on it to lift the rear if the panel into mounting position, then secured it. This leaves the exhaust pipe resting on the top side of the panel, but it's not vibrating, and has caused no ill effects to date. The mounting hardware left a little to be desired, but that was easily rectified with a trip to the hardware store. For the price, there is no other set of skidplates out there that can touch this. Skids fit ok, had to get some spacers from ace hardware to really get them to work well with my diff drop. They cover what needs to be covered, are about twice as thick as the factory skids and are a great value for the money. While i wouldn’t use them for rock crawling they’re great for general off roading ... show more
