Apple always makes the best accessories for their products and this is no exception. It snaps on with magnets and feels as though it's molded onto the iPad itself. It doesn't feel like a magnetically attached case but in reality it's a flap of thin rubber wrapped around the very outside of your iPad but it won't move. The small flap will flip and hold onto the rest of the case while you have the folio open so that it does not block the camera. It will only do this if you place it that way but when you do, it magnetically attaches so you can use the camera on the iPad without having to hold back the flap from the front panel of the smart folio. My issues with this have to do with cleanliness and the peek functionality. When you flip open just the first small flap you can peek at the screen and see the time and battery level. Except not really. The screen will wake when it senses that you open just the first small panel of the flap but because of the way the UI is set up part of the time is almost cut off and the battery level does not display unless you hold the iPad in landscape mode. This is because the Touch ID "Rest to open" message always appears under the wake button. Sometimes I want to just check the batter level in landscape. Or maybe I've put my iPad down after using it in portrait and then want to check time and battery using the peek functionality. The outer case, especially the front, is a magnet for dust. That's annoying. Apple says to use a damp cloth to wipe the case and that's fine but what about the inside? The inside of the folio has this velvet type texture and that is very soft but will hold onto your finger oil and eventually transfer them to the iPad screen. When new, the case actually kind of cleans your iPad screen. Once you get the inside a little dirty or use it for a while, you'll notice it places a slight film on a clean screen sometimes and you'll see these vertical strips where the bends on the folio front are which don't make full contact with the screen and are made of the same rubber as the front rather than the velvet material the rest of the inside is made of. Overall, these issues I have are small and it's an iPad so you're going to get fingerprints on it even if you use the Apple pencil a lot like I do. And no, the folio doesn't get in the way of the Apple pencil at all. It's literally like wrapping your iPad in a folder and that's what makes this so awesome. There are three ways that the folio lets you use it as a stand but all of them only work in landscape mode which is fine. You can have it stand vertically on a slight slant as well as two different variations of an angle where you have the iPad flat like a piece of paper but tilted slightly for convenience. It's hard to explain without a visual but there are basically two angles of that flat mode. So like I said, despite these small issues I have, this thing is great and my own gripes are really just personal problems. Your iPad is meant to be touched and will get fingerprints on it. Just get over it, invest in a nice cloth made for cleaning glasses, and you'll be set. As for how to clean the inside velvet material, I'm not sure how that works but so far it hasn't caused a lot of problems for me. The screen only really gets dirty because of the case if you've already smudged finger oils all over it to begin with and then put the cover on which then smudges it around even more. Oh, and one more thing - because of how this thing basically wraps around the iPad like a folder and holds on magnetically, you can strip the thing off in less than a second if you want to use your iPad without its case which is something I do often. I hate covering up something as beautiful as an iPad with a case and only really use it when I know I'll be transporting it around and need to be sure it has some protection from the elements.

Fits perfectly. Holds tightly. I have not tried cheaper ones but I bought one black and one blue. Both fit perfectly and feel like good quality material. If you’re going to spend hundreds for an iPad doesn’t make sense to cheap out on a cover. It’s not made to protect against a semi high fall. More just to keep it from getting scratched up. It folds nicely to hold it up but not at a 45 degree just about 3 inches to prop up on lap. Just like pictures show.

Me gustó mucho, además lo compré en black friday. Definitivamente no pagaría lo que vale en precio normal por lo que es. Unicamente funciona como un skin, no protege los filos de la tablet y además se sale muy facilmente por lo que puede causar una caida del iPad

Bought this for my new 4th generation ipad air. The first cover, not an Apple product, did not fit and was junk for $16. I knew from my old ipad that I needed the Apple cover. So for an ENORMOUS price of nearly $80 I bought it. Yes it fits perfectly however because it has a back cover (unlike the previous ipad cover that only hooked on one side) it can only go on one way. That puts the touch to start button on the right lower edge and the back of the case interferes with resting my finger on the button. I would have preferred the start button to be on the top left hand corner. Other than price and not being able to choose which direction to put the cover on, it fits well and works well. The top cover also folds back and forms a brace for holding up ipad to watch on the screen. Works much better at this than the old ipad covers did for the previous models. It does not cover the sides and bottom edges so if the ipad falls, it could get damaged. Never had that problem with last 2 ipads so I was not worried with this one.

I have been using Apple Smart Covers for years on my previous iPads, but now with the new iPad Air 2022 which is bigger, I had no choice but get this new model. It also has a back cover, which makes it less smooth to handle and a bit heavier.
