Top Amazon Reviews

🚀 Abunda's Overview

This is our summary and key points to consider based on customer reviews.

The Apple MagSafe Battery Pack stands out for its strong integration with iOS, and overall design and feel. Its excellent magnetic attachment and compatibility with not only iPhones (particularly those with MagSafe capability), but Android phones as well makes it versatile. However, reviewers have criticized it for its steep price, limited battery storage capacity, slow charging speed, and inability to recharge fully an iPhone 12 from zero.

Pros

  • 🍏 Excellent integration with iOS
  • 💼 Sleek, lightweight, and portable
  • 🧲 Outstanding magnetic attachment force
  • 🤲 Smooth and pleasant finish
  • 🆚 Can be used with both iPhone and Android

Cons

  • 💰 Highly priced
  • 🔋 Limited battery capacity
  • ⌛ Slow charging speed
  • ⛔ Does not fully recharge an iPhone 12 from zero
  • 🚫 Cannot be charged from another wireless charger

Should I Buy It?

If you don't mind the premium price and don’t heavily rely on the battery pack for full charge, this Apple MagSafe Battery Pack with its impressive design, magnetic force, and iOS integration would be a comfortable choice especially for loyal Apple users. However, if battery capacity and price are top considerations, you may want to explore other alternatives.

  • A great battery for daily use that doubles as a magsafe charger!
Style: Battery Pack
The Apple MagSafe Battery Pack is an excellent example to Apple's commitment to delivering sleek, user-friendly products. Its portability is unmatched, making it a top choice for daily use. One of the standout features is its effortless charging mechanism. Simply attach it to your phone, and it takes care of the rest. The intelligent design ensures that the phone stops charging if it detects excessive heat, ensuring the safety of your device. This battery pack isn't just a battery pack; it's also a MagSafe charger. When plugged into a power source, it offers passthrough charging, ensuring your phone gets also juiced up along with your battery back. This dual functionality adds to its value proposition in my opinion, as a MagSafe charger is almost 40 bucks. Apple's hallmark has always been its seamless integration and simplicity. True to this, the battery pack's charge level can be monitored directly from the iPhone's battery widget. Additionally, it supports battery optimization features, not just for the iPhone but also for itself when plugged in for extended durations. However, it's not without its shortcomings. The battery capacity is on the lower side. Using it with an iPhone 13 Pro Max, I found that it provides only about a 40% additional charge. While this might be a trade-off for its compact design, it's something potential buyers should be aware of. Some competitors offer larger capacities, but they might not be as portable or as integrated in the Apple ecosystem. Lastly, the price point is on the higher side, which is expected from Apple products. While it might be a deterrent for some, those familiar with Apple know that with the brand, you're not just paying for a product but also for impeccable design, flawless implementation, and top quality. ... show more

  • Designed to get you through the day Designed to get you through the day
Style: Battery Pack
This battery goes against conventional thinking of what an external phone battery should be. We usually think we need the biggest and fastest charging battery for the money and how many full charges we can get from it. If you want the largest and fastest battery for the money this is not it. This battery is designed to get you through one of those long days and back home to the night stand. Apple has prioritized battery health with this battery that you don't get from any external battery. The iPhone has 3 power modes, AC power, battery, and low power mode. Each mode the phone has different priorities. The iPhone sees this Magsafe battery as an external battery and keeps the phone in battery mode. It prioritizes battery health by not charging over 90% to minimize battery degradation (can be changed in settings) . The battery is slow charging because fast charging creates more heat that damages the over all health of the battery long term. I've used this battery for 3 months. It's thin and compact and fits easily in my camera bag. I use it to give me a boost to get me home/hotel. The battery has a lightning port and when plugged in directly it will prioritize the phone first then the battery at the same time. The battery can even power Airpods. If you understand this new paradigm to battery health and charging I think its a decent battery and worth the cost. It's a great travel battery. ... show more

  • Bought Amazon 3rd Party Used: Genuine battery
Style: Battery Pack
Second Purchase 2025 June: Another came into stock on Amazon Resale in June. Since I had a good experience with the first purchase, I immediately purchased it again. Unfortunately, this 2nd purchase was clearly a fake. The size was different, lightning port was loose, and when connected, it would not be able to show any serial numbers in the settings. It was surprisingly a well made fake. It's able display a battery percentage in the iOS battery widget, however it's incredibly inaccurate, tends to just be random 96%, ~30%, etc. It was unable to produce the white MagSafe connection ring icon when initially connected, only the green ring which is more similar to normal wireless battery banks. Thankfully, Amazon was able to process my return without issues. Fingers crossed if another comes into stock, it'll be genuine next time. Overall, I'm glad I purchased through Amazon with it's good return policy, since so many fakes are circulating out there and you can't really know until you physically receive the product. Original Purchase in 2025 May: Sometimes you get really lucky, this purchase was one of them. Anybody that's actually trying to purchase a genuine one knows how hard it is to find a real one in the sea of fake ones out there. When I got the CamelCamelCamel notification that it was in stock, within an hour I bought it, knowing that at least if it turned out to be fake, Amazon's return service was there. The battery came and to my surprise, not only was it genuine, but it was also new in the box, unopened. I'll consider this a lucky instance since this "should" have been a "3rd party used" condition sale. I paid $200 (about $100 over the old normal price) just to make sure it was not a fake, no complaints from me here. For me, the main reason I wanted the Apple Magsafe battery instead of being able to just use any other Qi / Magsafe battery out there was because of: Charge limit Maintain / auto resume Bi-directional charging Magsafe temperature monitor Qi / can charge Airpod Pros. The Apple Magsafe battery is the only external battery out there that actively communicates with the iPhone and will automatically stop charging at around 90% (can manually override if necessary). This is crucial for battery longevity, since charging up to 100% and letting battery drain (below 10%) will put more strain on the battery and degrade it quicker (battery cycles). However, even though newer iPhones now also have a "charge limit" feature that stops charging when it hits +80%, the Magsafe battery has another trick up it's sleeve. Since it's constantly communicating with the iPhone, when the iPhone's battery starts dropping below 90%, it'll "top it off" back to 90% again, automatically. Other batteries would require manual control of turning it on again. Because of this, it acts similarly to a "battery maintainer". The battery is also the only Magsafe device that is able to bi-directionally charge wireless, from the iPhone. That means if it's connected to an iPhone, if you are wired charging the iPhone, it is also able to wirelessly charge the Magsafe battery also. No other device currently is able to "charge wirelessly from an iPhone". Because it's Magsafe, not just Qi / Qi2, it also maintains good communication with the iPhone's temperature and will slow/stop it's charging if it detects the iPhone is getting too hot. It's also compatible with older Qi charging devices. I have a 1st generation Airpods Pro (Qi 1 charging, not Magsafe) and it's able to auto detect and start charging it. Not even the Anker MagGo products will detect my Airpod Pros and other Qi devices (iPhone SE 2020). Overall, the Apple Magsafe Battery is a completely unique product that has no equivalent. If you are just looking for a external wireless "power bank" to manually charge up your phone, there are tons of cheaper options out there. But if you are hunting for those features I listed, there is no alternative. ... show more

  • Excellent, overpriced, and probably worth it (for the true believers) Excellent, overpriced, and probably worth it (for the true believers)
Style: Battery Pack
When I saw MagSafe get rebranded as this iPhone feature (instead of Mac feature that was killed in 2016 and could be returning soon on the 16” M1X MacBook), I figured a product like the MagSafe Battery pack would eventually get released. I think a lot of people were surprised to see this $100 accessory be priced that high, considering it can’t even recharge your iPhone 12 from zero to one hundred percent. That is definitely a valid criticism considering you can get an excellent alternative from one name brand in particular, for only half the price. I think it’s important to remember all of the features this product has over the competitors, which is always what you get from first party Apple products. The coolest thing this can do, in my opinion, is that it can be on the back of an iPhone 12 series phone, and can be recharged wirelessly from the iPhone itself. Which means that iPhones can reverse wirelessly charge other Qi compatible devices, but Apple has never turned the feature on in the operating system. You can also charge your iPhone 12 while the battery pack is recharging with a lightning cable, it basically turns into a MagSafe charging puck when being used that way, delivering the full, 15 watts of wireless power to your iPhone (12 series only, of course). It will also charge any Qi capable devices like Airpods 2 or AirPods Pro. While this is attached to your phone and neither the iPhone or battery pack are charging with a cable, this will deliver only 5 watts of power to your iPhone. This is disappointing and kind of defeats the purpose of making a MagSafe wireless charger in the first place. The whole point of MagSafe is convenient, faster wireless charging. But I think it’s important to remember the benefits of this product too. You get a nice animation when you attach it to your iPhone, and the battery pack will show up in the battery widget, next to your Apple Watch and Airpods. It really is awesome that you never have to turn it on and that it communicates with iOS using the NFC part of MagSafe. Another plus is the safety of this device, it is designed to protect your internal iPhone battery and not put performance over longevity. By default it will only charge your iPhone to 90%, you can get around this by long pressing on the battery saver button within quick settings and an option appears that only shows up while the battery is connected. It will stay enabled and can’t be turned off but it will reset back to only charging to 90% the next time you use it. Most of the damage done to our iPhone batteries occurs between the 90% and 100% charge level. Apple is protecting our devices by making this the default behavior of this battery pack. While there are alternatives out there, even a few really good ones, none are safer or nicer to use than this one from Apple. It’s incredibly thin and feels super soft to the touch. I know it’s expensive, but I honestly feel like it’s worth the price, and I’m loving mine. Apple focuses more on overall experience and sometimes price is an afterthought. I think they wanted to make a really great product and weren’t concerned about people who might be sensitive to the price. If you love Apple and buy everything they make, go ahead and pull the trigger because you know you want it. If you need speed(and/or are on a budget), go with a USB C to Lightning, 20 watt wired charger. The 15 watts from the MagSafe cable (when connected to a 20 watt wall charger) will also be faster than this battery pack. Pros➕ Strong Magnets 🧲 Automatically turns on/off 🤓 Silky smooth finish 🧈 Tight integration with iOS 📱🤝 Protects battery health 🔋 Thinner than similar products ➡️🍎⬅️ Lightweight 🪶 Doubles as a wired MagSafe charger (if you own a USB C to Lightning cable + 20 watt charger)🔌 Can be recharged wirelessly, but only from an iPhone 12/13 series model (while the iPhone is connected to a wired charger with 20+ watts of power)⚡️ Cons➖ Cannot fully recharge a 12/12 pro (55%-60% recharge capacity) 🙁 Only charges at 5 watts or less, most of the time🐢 Magsafe Battery Pack itself, cannot be charged wirelessly EXCEPT from the iPhone 12/13 series models, so if you place this on a Qi charger or the $40 MagSafe cable, it will NOT charge 🚫⚡️ Expensive 💵 ... show more

  • Works well in tandem
Style: Battery Pack
I have this and also the Anker 633 MagGo battery. Each serves a purpose. Apple charger is best when you are leaving the hoise and the phone charge is low, you attach and it keeps you going as you go about your morning, it charges a bit slower than the Anker, but is lighter, sleek in comparison, and has a strong magnet. So if it is in your pocket or bag expect this one to stay attached moreso than the Anker. Anker is more powerful, and has a standd. It is a bit bulkier, the magnet is not as strong on the strip portion below the circle so it swings offline easily so not really good for your pocket. This is great for planes trains, libraries, and other times you expect to sit and wait or work awhile and want to use your phone to watch a movie or something. I have not yet allowed my phone to drain all the way and connect a fully charged battery so I cannot speak to that. I charge one while using the other. Since they shut off when your phone reaches 90% charge it’s cool to leave them on so they can begin to automatically charge once you drain to your power threshold. So you don’t hVe to even monitor it throughout the day. Hope this helps. If you were to take these two with you and alternate using one while charging the other, you should always have sufficient power. ... show more

  • Apple MagSafe Battery Packs Are A Must Have Still In 2024! Apple MagSafe Battery Packs Are A Must Have Still In 2024!
Style: Battery Pack
Lucky me, bought this brand new! Passed all the checks and scans! Truly genuine, because it matches the trademarks I seen at the Apple website. If you see anything there other than this, then it’s refurbished by another manufacturer or a fake. This should help those who are looking for one of these without getting scammed. The battery life: keeps the 100% charge over night, without any loss, ready to use whenever. Cute little thing, and light weight, feels very comfortable in my hand while it’s on my phone. The magnetic is very strong and it takes a great force to pull it off. But that is all good, because you don’t want it to fall and lose your lovely battery pack! Alright now the number 1 thing that everyone complains about the 90% charge. I tested my phone from 67% and it’s true it stopped at 91% and I kept it attached and still didn’t move a voltage up. People, there is a literally a notification when you first connect it! It literally says that it isn’t going to get past 90%. Okay? So your reviews are discarded due to my experience. By the way, you should never over charge your phone after 100%, so Apple probably designed it at that limit for your phone’s sake. The battery pack feels natural you’ll forget that it is still charging. So the performance was high before it hit 91%. You keep the pack on afterwards the limit, it will only begin to discharge and loose power. So still 91%, on my phone, the pack dropped to 42% after half an hour. Therefore, it is only built to charge to 90-91% for your iPhone. Anyways, it’s small and compact, you can slip it in your bag when you’re on the go. My iPhone is a 13 mini, and over the years the battery capacity is just…bleh! So with this little pack! I feel confident when I have it with me, knowing that my phone will always stay above 89% & that’s good enough for me! ... show more

  • It ok
Style: Battery Pack
It's not worth the price. I had this product for a few weeks. You can not charge it with a case on. The battery dies fast. It doesn't get to 100%. If your phone is on 10%, it will reach 60%. This is fine, but there are cheaper portable chargers out there that work way better. In terms of style, it's cute. I like how tiny and light it is, but I see why Apple discontinued this product. ... show more
