I have to admit it had been a very long time since I was back on the ice. As a youngster I spent many many hours skating on the ice with friends from Jr. High School. In my town we had the Ice Chalet to skate indoors and it was quite social and it was cool to be at the Ice Chalet. Fast forward 50 years and I am back at it, friends have a pond that freezes over and invited us over. I needed a pair of skates and thanks to the American Athletic Shoe Company I ordered a pair and even convinced a friend to buy them even before me trying mine out. Great purchase and great value. Being new, they were a bit stiff, but you want good ankle support and they are a great set of skates. Happy that I bought them! When buying you might also consider buying skate guards to put on the blades so you can get from here to there with out dulling your blades since they come sharpened. Also be sure and dry the blades so they do not rust! Have fun! ... show more

These skates work well for the price. If you're just learning or skating for fun, they're fine. The inside lining is soft and they're okay for basic skating. The quality isn't great - you can tell they're cheap. They feel kinda flimsy compared to other skates, but they still work. The big problem is the toe box is really tight. My toes feel squished when I skate, especially after wearing them for a bit. If you have wide feet, these probably won't feel good. They're decent if you don't want to spend much money and just need skates that work. Just know the fit is narrow up front. ... show more

These skates lasted me all the way to basics 3 (2 months, skating 2-3 hours a week) but once I started leaning on them more the the heel started ungluing from the boot. So I think these are great if you are just starting and learning swizzles but once you start learning the how to do crossovers I highly recommend buying skates with better support for your ankle or else you could end up with an injury. ... show more

They were pretty beginner friendly skates, but I have come to notice that the blades aren't sharpened. They fit well and last long enough, but if you want to get past the beginner phase, perhaps you might want to look for a better pair elsewhere. I got these skate for my son who is 11. He prefers figure skates over hockey and he loves these. He wears a size 5.5 us and I bought him a size us 6 and they fit him perfectly. These skates do not come sharpened so you will need to sharpen them before using. He has gone skating everyday fir 2 hours a day since he hit them and hasn't once complained of pain or aches.
