You will need to do some easy sanding to finish this item and also will likely want to put a coating of stain or paint on it. Mine are well made and with a little sanding and stain they look great. I was worried that this might be cheap craft wood, but it turned out to be quite sturdy and pretty! I bought it to paint, but would have been nice stained, too. It is a tad bigger than standard outlet cover size, but PERFECT for what I needed.
