  • True Percale
So many are discussing grandma's sheets in these reviews, then complaining that these sheets aren't Grandma's. Well, I AM grandma. I DID sleep under my grandma's sheets as a child in the south (your great great grandma?) The problem you have is that you didn't sleep under grandma's sheets while they were new. You slept under them after they were worn in. Percale starts as somewhat scratchy. After multiple washes, they begin to soften up. They become softer, then, even slippery. Totally heavenly. Good percale will last a long, long time. I have percale sheets that I bought 50 yrs. ago. Don't be fooled by the number of threads per square inch. There are only so many quality cotton threads that can be smashed into a square inch. To get more, you have to make the threads thinner (think...micro...fiber.) If the threads are thinner, the sheet becomes thinner, wimpier. Also, you lose the space between threads for the heat exchange that percale is known for (percale is cooler to sleep under.) A good quality cotton percale sheet will have about 200-300 threads/sq. in. - at most. And, if they ARE cotton, they WILL wrinkle, the same as your grandma's did. That's the nature of cotton. The wrinkles didn't appear to be so strong because she hung them on the clothes line and pulled out the wrinkles before they dried. I bet your grandma's sheets smelled like sunshine, right? By the way, your grandma's sheets were probably white and made from cotton grown in the southern U.S. You won't find grandma's sheets in queen size or king size - that's new to the second half of the 1900's. Which brings me to the reason I'm buying these queen size percale sheets. These sheets have all of those qualities you remember about your grandma's well worn sheets. Something additional these sheets have is a HUGE top sheet with deep cornered fitted sheet and large pillowcases. No longer do I have to buy a king set for my queen bed, then modify the bottom sheet, or buy a queen set and begin the nightly tug of war with my husband who wraps himself in the top sheet leaving me high and dry. Most queen top sheets in box stores are 92" x 102". They pull out at the bottom of today's thicker mattresses and barely cover the mattress on the sides. Compare the size of these top sheets. These sheets will soften after a few washes and uses. You have something Grandma didn't have - a washing machine/ dryer and choices of color. Don't give up on these awesome sheets. Buy them, use them, and wait for what happens with time - the cool, crisp, smooth to the point of slipperiness feeling you remember about Grandma's sheets. You'll be able to enjoy them for 50 yrs. or more. Soon, your grandchildren will fondly remember your percale sheets. :) Additional info: I've owned these sheets and I also bought the Pinzon 300 count percale but not organic. I bought them both at the same time and am wearing them equally. These sheets are becoming softer sooner than the others. The others ARE softening up, but these are softer, sooner. Just sayin'... if softness is a deal breaker for you... ... show more

  • Definitely wrinkly BUT
Pros: LOVE that they are made for deep pocketed mattresses!! I have constant issues with finding sheets that are the right size for my queen pillowtop mattress that can be tucked in and stay tucked. These definitely fit that mold. They also have a nice width of qood quality elastic; coupled w the design, my bottom sheet doesnt do that annoying thing where a corner slips off. Cons: Very wrinkly. Even if you put them on the bed slightly damp to mitigate wrinkles they still wrinkly after being slept on. They're cotton so I know eventually they'll shrink but for the price (I got them for $13 on Prime day), I can just order more when the time comes should I want to. The grey color I ordered is nice (not too dark nor too light for my needs). They're quite comfy but not as soft as some high quality high threadcount sheets I've had. ... show more

  • My favorite sheets
This is the second set of Amazon's Pinion sheets that I have purchased. I love the sturdy, crisp cotton. They are cool to the touch on a hot desert night. I did not notice any shrinking after laundering and I do remove and fold immediately after drying in the dryer. These also do well when hang drying on the clothes line. The cotton feels like it is a long staple cotton that will handle more rubs than a short staple cotton. Feels like a Pima cotton quality. The color is a neutral gray that seems to be color fast in cold/warm laundering. I'm not a huge fan of the way the elastic is attached.I much prefer elastic in a casing that can be easily replaced with new elastic when the original fails. If/when the elastic fails on the fitted sheet, I will figure a way to replace. ... show more

  • Bought a set in Oct, 2021 - back in May 2022 for MORE! Why? read on-->
First. The color is nothing short of perfect. A true blush. It's not peach and it's not pink. A genuine, authentic blush, and that is what I want and love. Now, to the sheets. They're wonderful. I love sleeping in them, they have that "organic feel" which is, um...no words for that? They just feel natural, soft and clean. I snuggle up under them and feel sheltered and loved. I know, I know, sounds sappy...must have something to do with the color, but I'm sold on these and I'm buying another set. Now...for my husband. He really likes them too, however, he says they sleep "VERY COOL" so, this could, depending on your choices, be a good thing or not so much. Since it's December as I write this, he thinks they should be more for warm weather I can't tell you exactly what he's feeling because I don't get any of it, but he tells me they feel "airy and lightweight" (hey, sounds good to me, but...you know how husbands can be, right?) So, all that said, he likes them, I love them. And one thing is certain. If you're searching for a true BLUSH sheet set, look no further. They're right here. And they feel really good too! ((*update May 2022 - These sheets are great! They've held up well - although given, I've not used them a LOT, we have several sets of sheets and I like to keep it "different" all the time) But they're great! The main reason I'm coming back this time is to tell you that they are BIG-as in sufficient. We have purchased a 3" mattress topper and that makes us have D-E-E-P pockets. With this cotton sheet, even though I wash, uh, warmer than I should, they hold up to the job better than most sheet sets I own. Makes for a fabulously made bed, and again, the fabric is great. I've switched to mostly bamboo and eucalyptus sheets, but these cotton ones still hold a spot at the top. And the PRICE? Whoa. I RECOMMEND THESE HIGHLY! ... show more
