Straight out of the packaging it had a weird chemical smell and was slightly damp. Very weird. I ran it under water and it is fine now. Good for the value, works like any dish sponge of the kind. Not wonderful, not awful.

The price you can not beat. I was using Walmart brand ones that would just fall apart with hard scrubbing. This sponge stayed very well together. It only fell part when I was cleaning an area and a nail ripped it in two. But the two pieces still clean after the split.
