I'm writing this review as a therapist on my feet a lot. I am a former runner, but do not intend to actually run in these shoes. These are my first pair of Altras. I was drawn by the wide toe box and zero drop. I once had plantar fasciitis and look for footwear to help keep that from happening again. I also tend to roll my right ankle just walking so some stability helps, too. I'm coming from Hoka One One Bondi 5s, which are like walking on marshmallows. I don't necessarily need that but do want some cushion. These seem to check all the boxes for me, and I ordered them based on reviews, never having tried them on. They are comfortable and cushioned, but are firmer than the Bondis, and less bulky feeling. The zero drop will take a little getting used to, but it's not uncomfortable. There is arch support but it's not super aggressive. I feel like it lets me pronate (appropriately) and will reduce the chances of me rolling my ankle. The toe box is just perfect. Why don't all shoe companies design shoes like this??? In other shoes, I might go up 1/2 size just to make room but these are perfect. I wear a 9 in most shoes, 9.5 in running shoes, but the 9 is perfect in the Paradigm. I see what people are talking about with the tongue. It could stand to be more padded, but it's not a deal breaker. It might be if I were running long distances, but it's fine for daily wear. My heel is fairly narrow and these fit fine. I make sure I loop the closest hole and lace them through to lock my foot in better, but I do that with any laced shoe (see pic). I like the upper. The light blue is nice. We shall see how it holds up to daily wear.

Finally! Altra is back on track. I have been wearing Altra shoes for over 3 years. I'm not a runner or walker. But I do work in the OR and average about 4 to 5 miles a day, 5 days a week. And once Altra got their hooks into me with loving their brand, they change things up and messed up a good thing. I was having trouble finding that perfect shoe. Either the style was no longer available, or they made changes that ruined the shoe. Until now. I purchased this shoe back in February. It is the stack height I need. It is lightweight. It is durable. It is supportive. As I said, I walk a lot during my 8 hour shift and these shoes never let me down. They run a bit small. I am normally an 8 but got an 8.5 and they fit fine. I have yet to notice a breakdown which is surprising considering I do not alternate shoes. My feet and legs are not hurting at the end of my shift. Great shoe. Again, Altra do not mess this up.

I've had a lot of wear to my feet over the years from high intensity cardio activities, so am generally in some level of pain related to that. The muscles in my feet cramp and I also am developing bunions on both feet. My son recommended these shoes, so I did some research to see it they would be right for me. I like the zero drop and firm sole of the shoe because it keeps my foot from bending and cramping as much. I also love the look and security I feel with them. The only drawback is they are a little tight due to my bunions & I did not see that they came in a wider size. However, I have been able to wear them throughout my activities for several hours at a time and hope I can break them in so they're a little wider. The last shoes I bought-not from Altra-but another highly rated brand, caused pain and cramping to my feet within the hour, so this is a huge improvement over that!

Enjoy these shoes this is my second pair. I walk 5+ miles per day so I put plenty on miles on them. They are wider than any other brand and fit well. (1/2 size larger perfect fit) These are zero drop shoes so knee hip back pain goes away. Tried another brand but all of the pain came back. These are ridiculously expensive but in the end way worth it. I would like the soles to be more durable. I have had these for a couple of months and the heels are already starting to show wear which is why the 4 stars.

First of all ,all my shoes are Altra they got this 59 year old back to what she has always loved. I have had feet issues for over 28 years from plantar fasciitis, bunions and hammer toe, along with knee and lower back arthritis. Altra has got me back on the road with max cushion wide toe box and zero toe to heel. There is a variance between the different types of Altra shoes and the Paradigm is one that I have to go 1/2 size up due to a more rounded toe, comfort and stability are great but not with my orthotics.

I’m a low mileage runner, (mostly on the treadmill) in my late 50s with occasional knee pain and these shoes have been great! I have a wider forefoot and a high arch and these shoes fit perfectly and comfortably right out of the box. They were true to size. I don’t do speed work anymore, but Im not sure these would be the best choice for that, but they are excellent for my purposes. I bought my husband a pair (same brand, different model) for walking and he raves about how comfortable and knee-friendly they are.

These are my 4th pair of Altra Paradigm 4.5 and though I have not run in them yet, they fit comfortable right out of the box. I'll take them out for a spin this week and I am confident they will be as comfortable as the last pairs. I have not yet tried the Paradigm 5 yet. They will be next when the 4.5 is no longer available! I started with the Intuition 1.5 and have been hooked. I wish they would bring back the 1.5. They have "improved" the intuition over the years but none of the Altra's have been as comfortable as my Intuition 1.5!
