My podiatrist recommended these to help me overcome some foot pain. I'm still dealing with the foot pain, but not the shoes fault, I can tell these are helping me have a more natural stance. I had tried on a different style of Altras, but they were really wide for my slender feet. These fit really well in the heel and mid-foot, yet give my toes room. One feature I love is the heel design make these really easy to slip on and lace. The sole has a nice firm and stable, yet, cushy feel, I don't feel like I'm going slide off an overly cushy sole like on some popular shoes popular now.

I have been wearing Altra shoes for years, and I truly love them. No other shoes I've tried provide similar room in the toes. I think other reviewers were right in that this style seems to run slightly larger, so I ordered a half size down from what I normally order, and they fit fine.

I have 3 other Altra sneakers and these are the best yet. Adequate toe box (though not as large some other models) and the support and cushioning are fantastic. I wore them every day on long walks through Europe and my feet never hurt, which is remarkable for me since I have problem feet. Highly recommend.

I bought these to help my heel pain. They absolutely did the job. In fact, no heel pain, no hip pain, no knee pain, I was so excited. However, they are quite stiff and rub blisters. I tried different socks, but no luck. Back they go. Update, I ordered a wide and that was the ticket. Love these shoes. Pain is gone. Just wish I could pick a color other than black.

Torin 8 is GREAT! I am a 69 year old woman who loves to hike. These past few months, after adding fast-walk on the treadmill at a local gym & working out daily at home & living with cold, cold floors in my house, my feet went on strike. The beginnings of Bunion on one side, both hammer toes & claw toes bilaterally. Poor feet had just had it with me. Today I got these Torins. My feet are in Heaven & I immediately felt like I wanted to go & do stuff again. What a difference a good shoe can make! I am super thankful & next I will look to see if Altra has made a hiking boot/shoe that closely resembles the Torin in fit. After that, I will most likely buy an additional pair of these. I purchased these, in part, because of many reviews stating these had the widest toe box among minimalist shoes. I previously had bought a much less expensive barefoot shoes that had a very generous toe box, so I expected these to be at least comparable. They are not. While the ends of the toes have ample room, the width at the ball of the foot is extremely tight. Additionally, the height from the insole to the shoe top is insufficient and tight even with laces excessively loosened. I consider my feet moderately wide, though generally “taller” in the middle than most. Whether I require wide-width shoes typically depends on the brand, though often I don’t. On a positive note, the shoes seem to have a reasonably comfortable insole (ie, not barefoot feel), and they are made in Vietnam, not China, which is a plus in my book.

Upgrading from the Torin 3.5 to the Torin 8. Wow these shoes are incredible! No break in period needed. Great padding, nice wide toe box, the heel doesn't rub. I seriously don't know what else I could ask for. Use taken these on blacktop walking trail and the gym and they're great. The purple color is nice too - glad to see Altra coming out with some normal color combos (my Torin 3.5s are blue and neon yellow lol).

Purchased these to try for a wider two box. I usually wear an 8 and half. Wish I had ordered a 9, but still fit. Very nice shoes. Love the color. Nice laces too!
