Attention anyone who has toe issues: You want to get Altras. I "slog" about nine miles a day and have arthritis in my toes. A bad combo. I don't want to give up my daily walks/jogs/slogs but toes were hurting. Tried Altras and never looked back. They have a roomy toe box. The zero drop takes a little bit of adjustment but it was worth it to have comfy toes. They don't seem to be as durable as other shoes I've tried but again, worth it to me. I went to a running store in my town about two years ago and picked these shoes out for the arch support they offer. I have very high arches and these gave the best support from the options they offered. At the time they were around $200. I was disappointed with how quickly they wore. The fabric around the toes started to stretch and tare after only a couple of months. But I was doing a fair amount of walking, probably 7 miles a day for several weeks in a row. All in all they are a good shoe and I was very happy to find them at this price point. I placed my order, received them in 2 days and they are exactly what I was expecting. I have been on the search for the world's most comfortable shoe and I think I have finally found it! I am a nurse who is on her feet for 12 hour shifts up to 60 hours a week. I have a tailors bunion on both feet which push my pinky toe into my fourth toe causing a soft corn on the inside of my pinky toe. It is literally the most painful thing I have ever experienced. The toe box on these shoes is a godsend. I can wiggle all of my toes and have plently of room even with compression socks. I purchased an 11 and they fit perfectly. I normally wear a 10.5W in NB, and Hoka. This shoe is light weight, perfectly cushioned with a nice responsive spring to help absorb shock, so you lumbar doesn't. I just ordered 3 more pair, because you cannot beat the price. Sorry Acsics, NB, Hoka, On, Brooks and all the other shoes that fill my closet. These are the ultimate winners! ... show more

    • Very nice - but didn't fit me
I got these at the recommendation of my physical therapist, for comfort with arthritis in my big toe. They are VERY straight and don't push in on my toes at all - great toe box. They're very well made, and the soles are comfortable. But for me, I had to return them... I have a very narrow heel, and no matter how I tied these, they were too big in my heel. UPDATE: while I love this brand, this edition has declined in quality. The arch side of the fabric was torn within a couple months of only running in them.     • Very poor quality. Both pair are falling apart in the same places with medium-minimal use
I would NOT recommend these, especially for the price. I like Altra shoes and the way they fit, however I bought 2 pairs of these and have only worn them a handful of times and they are coming apart. The fabric of the shoe along the sole, is splitting, where you can see the color of the inside insert through the outside of the shoe. Also, the thin rubber part of the sole that touches the pavement, that is attached to the foam, is pealing off near the toes. I don’t even drag my toes. This has happened on BOTH pairs, and i use them as walking shoes; I don’t even run. It’s a huge disappointment to spend so much money on a pair of good running shoes… and they don’t even stand up to walking. I’ll upload a photo later, as I am not home right now ... show more

The cushioned sole and wider toe box make these the most comfortable athletic shoe I've ever worn. I love them. If the colors were a little more mainstream I'd have more than 4 pairs. UPDATED: The quality is very poor. I purchased on 3/7/23. I noticed 11/16/23 the material has split in several places on the side of both shoes. If you’re new to this brand and you’re considering trying your first pair, try them! Altra shoes have (what shouldn’t be, but is) state-of-the art design when it comes to the signature shape of their soles and the low heel/toe drop. Because of the freedom they allow for your feet to feel more connected to the ground and for your toes to splay, they mimic the responsiveness of a barefoot shoe but are unique in that you have stability guardrails built into the upper medial and lateral arches. If you’re already familiar with Altra and just want to know how this model compares to some of the other ones-it’s my new favorite. I’ve tried most of them-the Escalante, Timp, Torin and others. I love the stretchy breathable fabric the uppers are made of. They basically just feel like stretchy socks over the toe box. Perfect for indoor running and workouts. Not suitable for any type of weather though. This is the comfiest pair I’ve ever had and appreciate that they were available in neutral colors. I get compliments on them everywhere I go, so apparently they look pretty cool too. ... show more
