  • Great Shoes
I LOVE these shoes. In the past, I have had such a problem with my tennis shoes rubbing against my toes - particularly on longer walks. Even when I buy shoes that are labeled as wide, after a mile or two, my big toes wind up being so sore and chafed. For a while I thought this was just the way it had to be, but then I found this brand. The shape of their shoes actually make sense and match the natural foot shape. I loved them from the second I put them on - there was no "breaking in" period, they were comfortable right away. Great support, good traction, and best of all, plenty of room in the toe box. I bought these because I wanted something versatile that I could wear on paved surfaces as well as on a hiking trail. The day after I got them I went for a 6 mile walk and my toes didn't rub once. No issues, no soreness, nothing. Would definitely recommend. ... show more

  • Great all-around shoe
Size: 8 Color: Light Gray
I needed a shoe that I could wear out and about and also could go into the woods and hike a nice trail. I'm a bit of an overpacker, so having a shoe that would serve multiple purposes for me really helps reduce what I'm carrying. I read a lot of reviews before purchasing this shoe, and overall, it was rated quite well. My expectations were fairly high, and this shoe truly knocked it out of the park. First, they're incredibly lightweight, which is important for both usage and packing. They're attractive looking and match most casual outfits. I wear a size 8, and ordered a size 8. Perfect fit. The toe box is spacious and the shoe fits perfectly. The light grey is a nice, simple look, but I do worry about how easy they'll be to clean. They've been pretty good at fending off dirt, even as I tromped through the woods after a rain. I need ankle support on most hikes, so I likely won't wear these on my longer or more difficult hikes, but for an easy hike, I'll definitely choose them. Don't get me wrong, if I didn't need ankle support, I'd wear them for all hikes, but I'm far too clumsy not to have mid-height boots at the least. The tread is impressive, and I definitely believe they'll be great for any type of walking I choose to wear them for. I have flat feet, so I sometimes struggle with shoes, but these are the right amount of support. My feet haven't hurt once since wearing them. I've even started using them on my walking pad at home. They aren't waterproof, so I'll have to keep that in mind for rainy days. But if you're looking for a light-weight trail running shoe, this could be a great choice for you! ... show more

  • These shoes fixed my feet
Size: 10 Color: Tan
I was healing one foot after a stress fracture and had pretty bad plantar fasciitis in my other foot when I started wearing these shoes to work. I used to wear hokas but these are so so much more comfortable and have completely gotten rid of my foot pain. Zero foot drop and wide toe box. I work 12s and hospital floors tend to be pretty hard on the feet but these make me feel like I'm walking on clouds the whole shift. Easy to clean too! I have another pair dedicated for hiking and the traction is great. Super lightweight and dry fast which is great for the warmer months. The soles are not super thick so you will feel rocks, etc a bit more though. ... show more

  • Comfortable trail running shoe with wide toe
Size: 6 Color: Dark Purple
I’ve had these Altra Trail running shoes for almost a year. In the Spring I used them hiking in Arizona and in the fall we hiked the Adirondacks, Shenandoah and The Smokies. The traction is great, they’re light, and best of all the toe is wide so I don’t have the blisters on my little toe! I sprayed the shoes with Camp Dry so they were water resistant. These are meant for trail running but they are great for light hiking when you don’t want to drag out the big heavy boots. I think they have held up well for the amount of miles on them, and I love the colors they offer. My only negative: I do think they were pricey. ... show more

  • The perfect hiking shoe! Not so much for the Lone peak 8’s though.
I never knew how much I needed a wide toe box in my shoes until I started wearing the Altra Lone Peaks. Now, I can’t find true comfort in any other shoe! I’ve tried wide shoes in the past. In fact, my hiking boots are wide. But the problem with wide shoes is that the whole shoe is wider than regular shoes, not just the toe box. But my foot is only wide around the ball of my foot. My mid-foot and heel areas are not wide. So wide shoes always feel big on me. I never realized how much regular shoes squeeze the ball of my foot, and become uncomfortable after a while. Now I notice it in every shoe. These shoes are not like typical wide shoes, as these are only wide in the toe box. I guess, according to shoe manufacturers, I’m abnormal, since no one else makes shoes with such a wide toe box. Even other styles of Altra do not compare to the Lone Peaks, which have Altra’s widest toe box. The Lone Peaks are the most comfortable shoes I’ve ever put on my feet, not only for the ball area of my foot, but I also love having plenty of room for my toes to spread out while hiking. I can actually feel my toes working to grip the uneven trail surface, which I wasn’t sure at first that I liked, because I actually felt like my foot muscles were getting a work-out . . . A new sensation for me. But after hiking in Lone Peaks for several years now, I absolutely love it! I feel like my feet are stronger! Who knew?! Anyway, I do have to mention that I have two pairs of the Lone Peak 6’s, and one pair of the Lone Peak 7’s. I tried on a pair of the Lone Peak 8’s, and was a little disappointed, because the sole of the shoe was not as squishy and comfortable as the 6’s and 7’s. Turns out, they added a rock plate into the soles of the 8’s, which makes them not as comfortable as the 6’s and 7’s. I don’t know why manufacturers always feel like they have to fix what isn’t broken, and in the process, they mess up a good thing. I will still probably end up buying a pair of the 8’s though, just because I love the wide toe box that much. ... show more

  • Awesome toebox!!
Size: 9 Color: Light Gray
Incredible toebox!! Best shoes I’ve ever put on my feet. So comfortable with a perfectly sized WIDE toebox, yet still fit my somewhat narrow foot. Grippy traction. Awesome shoes.
