About 6 months ago I got some lone peak 6’s Which I use for everyday, hiking, backpacking, and a recent archery elk hunt in the backcountry of the Colorado mountains. I am thoroughly impressed with them, I wore hiking boots on the hunt for the first day and had hot spots on my heels I switched to the lone peaks for all of the dry days the remainder of the hunt…. I put on 120 -140 miles in them with a 20 or so pound day pack through many miles of vertical both up and down, deadfall, and side hilling through various terrain. I brought the shoes as a just in case/camp shoe, but they ended up being my primary foot wear, no hot spots, or weird rubbing areas Pros: all day comfort Good traction Lightweight Dry quickly Durable Wide toe box Zero drop Cons: Not even a tiny bit water resistant Side hilling would cause my foot to fatigue after some time Everything said so far is for lone peak 6’s I’ve just received the 7’s and my first impression is that aside from styling they feel the same…I assume they’ll perform the same as the 6’s….time will tell ... show more

I bought these shoes for a trip to Europe with the anticipation of walking a lot. Over the course of 9 days I probably walked close to 100 miles in these shoes. I have somewhat wide feet so I the wide toe box was great. The shoes were very comfortable and my feet were never sore at the end of the day. They seem to be holding up really well so far. I’ve continue to wear them for a couple weeks since I’ve been home from my vacation. They have now become my daily shoe of choice. I personally think they look good. Some people think they like silly due to the wide toe box. I think it looks like an outdoorsy backpacker “style”. Plus, IDGAF what others think. I would absolutely buy these again. I’m actually going to look for another pair. ... show more

  • Plenty of toe room!
Size: 9 Color: Black/Grey
Great shoes for hiking. Light, flexibile, dry pretty quick, and if you go up a size, no pressure on toes when going downhill since the laces keep the shoe in place around the ankle. The footbox is the best part. I've been spoiled for most shoes since I wear sandals the majority of the time - my feet are happy with toe room. These shoes have enough. The fabric is pretty smooth and I can just push my feet in without having to retie them each time. Lazy perhaps, but nice too. Socks don't really catch on the fabric and pull tight when you put them on. ... show more

  • Overall a good shoe but not great
Size: 10.5 Color: Black/Grey
Overall it's a good shoe. very comfortable good grip. but for me the ego mid sole is to soft. feels unstable on uneven terrain like rocks and roots. Try before you buy normally wear 9.5 but ended up needing a 10.5 and fits great

  • Great for backpaking
Size: 10.5 Color: Navy
I've been using Altras for over 5 years. They are lightweight and dry quickly. I've never had a bister or any problems since switching from traditional boots. I do not need to break them in. I like these because they are comfortable when they get wet. I hike mostly in the White Mountains of New Hampshire. These shoes perform well in conditions where wet feet are inevitable and "waterproof" boots won't work anyway. I feel like these are durable enough for a very light shoe. I've bought 3 pairs over the years and will buy another when I wear these out. ... show more

  • Comfortable with a wide toe box
Size: 12 Color: Black/Grey
I really like the wide toe box on these shoes. Very comfortable with good traction. So far they’ve held up well but I’ve only had them for a couple of months.

  • Comfortable
First time wearer. I usually wear Merrell but somehow these called out to me so I took a chance. I love the sizing especially at the front and how they don't come to a "point" like many shoes, so your toes are free to relax. Very comfortable as well. I'm not a runner, so these shoes are just for everyday wear out and about. So far I'm very happy with these, and would buy another pair in the future. ... show more

  • Ok for smooth, level trails but is limited on more rocky surfaces
Size: 11 Color: Navy
Hi, I was getting caught up in the hype around the ultra lite hiking shoe so I took a chance. I have about 75 miles of hiking and a bit of scrambling in about 2 months with these shoes and it is a really mixed bag for their performance. On one hand I really like how light and effortless hiking is compared to a more traditional lite-hiker but I miss the stability, comfort on rocky paths and durability. I also have a wide foot and I really like the toe box and how it fits. On off-camber trials, I do find my feet sliding downhill and loose stability. I also really like how quickly these dry given the right socks (which I'm still trying to get dialed in) and the gaiter system that it supports. Since these are out side of the return period, I'll probably take a little Shoe Goo to lock down the portions of the shoe that are delaminating. I bought these here on amazon for less than $100 but I would never pay the $140 full retail at REI. I would hope to get at least two seasons out of these. ... show more
