I normally wear 12s, some things like skates or ski boots 11 or 10.5. Slippers maybe 13. I ordered size 12, but the right shoe is a bit short. Funny that the left shoe seems to fit okay. I'll need to exchange these because the toes on my right foot are scrunched up and pressing against the front. **Update: Painless refund, purchased the 12.5 and they've been great. If you've never worn these (as I never had either), putting on street shoes or non-zero drop shoes afterward almost feels like walking downhill. After a few days, I could feel my low back, hammy & calf muscles were getting a workout. For me and my back, that's great! The only odd thing, and I don't know if other shoe makers are doing this too, is the tongue is fixed to the inside of the inner side. Maybe I have big arches, but my laces at the top are always wide and this makes the tongue on these skew off-center and just looks odd. The tongue has enough material to cover to the other side, so that's not an issue. Just makes the shoe look crooked regardless of the bigger toe box. Have to wait to see how long these last. Replacing 18-year old Nike 'trail' mid-tops that I only wore while biking or in the gym. I had to reglue the sole 4 different times, but the uppers are still in 1 piece. I love the comfort that Altra shoes offer with the wide toe cap and low profile heel/base. Sturdy shoe and I don’t worry about rolling an ankle. Came with pebble guard? Inserts that I do not use. What to know: these shoes have 2 materials - cloth top & vinyl/pleather on sides. Guessing for mud & water - not a bad thing & they blend well & very subtle, just hard to see in pictures. As trail shoes the bottom is like a knobby tire, almost like a turf cleat. Again very subtle & I think will be a bonus for my euro tour walks which I bought them for. The sole is a soft blue (not white) not ugly whatsoever & also subtle, just kind of different from what you expect to see vs. a picture. One reason I like this brand is because they have color tones that are not LOUD. These check that box. I bought size 12 and consider my shoe size an 11. I am finding this more common now a days. Several years ago I bought the lone peak 4’s and at that time I was really into trail running, and what an amazing difference over any other shoe I used previously! Now these shoes I bought recently mostly because of the price point. And yet again altra hits a home run. I almost find these shoes to be more comfortable than the lone peaks. Of course the altra wide toe box. This is altra with a wilderness hiking use. Less foam bounce in the sole because of the rugged traction sole layer. Has a hard synthetic rear sides of shoe that I think provides balance and stability. Fits wide feet and is true to size, stretchy and will accommodate any foot swelling during long races. No need to go up a size when u purchase. Awesome value. This shoe is exactly what it claims to be. A lightweight, minimalist trail running shoe and some great features, good tread and awesome support options. Where I come up short on loving it more is the fit. In retrospect, this is a shoe I would want to try on in person to get just the right fit. I normally wear a mens 8.5 and for running, you should typically go half a size larger. Initially the fit was more or less comfortable. But the longer you wear them, the more cramped your foot feels. Could be swelling, could be the minimalist support style, or it could be that I needed to go a full size larger. Overall, I've had more comfortable minimalist trail runners than this pair despite the aggressive look and great features this one has. I'd say I was mostly satisfied with the purchase. ... show more
