Love these shoes they've always kept my feet dry. Being waterproof they're very warm. I've been a long time fan of the Altra lone peak shoes and these are no exception. They are significantly warmer and do not breathe as much as the standard lone peaks, so that is a trade-off that you will make for adding the waterproof-ness. Took them through some fairly thick mud last weekend did a number of creek crossings never had any issues very comfortable on my feet. I'll be buying these again when these wear out.

I am sold on Altras’ foot-shaped footwear. This is my third pair now although I have not had any of them long enough to comment on durability which seems to be an issue if you read some reviews. Once you wear shoes that don’t cramp your toes, you will be converted. I cannot comment on the waterproofness of them either at this time. They fit like a glove, and I appreciate the fact that they are not overly bulky like most hiking boots. Obviously, if you needed a heavy duty pair of boots for a heavy pack, these might not be the best choice, but for most hikes, they are perfect. As with all my footwear, I replace the factory, flat insoles with Superfeet insoles. I used Superfeet Carbon insoles these.

I love these shoes, the first ones that really feel good with sore toes, but the waterproof fabric is splitting and plastic bits are cracking after only 3 months of wear, so won't buy again.

So these boots are awesome. I’ve got quite a few miles in them now. Extremely durable. Extremely water resistant. And comfortable except for I have extra wide feet. Normally need double wide options. The wide toe box is awesome but if they were just a little wider they’d be perfect. Still true to size for normal/narrow feet.

I've read much about the Altra Lone Peak being super popular with long distance thru-hikers, so I had to try them for myself. I went with the mid height model to keep out debris and water, so I don't know if these are similar to the ones that thru hikers use. Altra is clearly addressing the market for people with very wide feet. My feet are medium width, and these are way too wide for me. Even after adding a 3mm insole under the factory one, my feet slide from side to side on side sloping hills. I was looking for hiking boots, but these are like high top sneakers with a lugged sole. The mid sole is extremely soft and squishy, making for a very non secure feel on rocky trails. Even on flat terrain, I found the super soft padding to be uncomfortable and tiring. My feet are used to minimal shoes (Merrell Trail Glove) for daily wear. and light hiking boot (Salomon) for trails so the extreme cushioning is very foreign to me. Between the soft sole and overly wide fit, I developed large blisters on both of my big toes from wearing these. I appreciate that Altra is making zero drop shoes, but unfortunately not for me.

The boot feel find on my foot. I like the foot shaped toe box. The only dislike is that when you walk the boot make a popping noise. It get annoying if you are having to put in 35 to 40 miles on the AT.
