  • Make it stop
I enjoy the boxes but trying to cancel and I’m still receiving the boxes. So it’s not as easy as they say…

  • January 2019 beauty box CRUSHED IT!
I love absolutely everything about this month's beauty box. I decided after hearing whispers on reddit to subscribe starting this month, and I was so excited that I signed up for two boxes. One through Amazon and one through Allure's beauty box website. The Amazon one has come already and I'm still waiting on the Allure one (hoping for the beauty blender minis variant!) In this months box: (Pulled from the MySubscriptionAddiction.com spoiler post for $$$ value $$$) Amika Soulfood Nourishing Mask – Full Size! Retail Value $12 OR Beautyblender Micro.Mini Value $9 Sunday Riley C.E.O. Glow Vitamin C + Turmeric Face Oil – 15 ml Sunday Riley A+ High Dose Retinoid Serum – 8 ml Ouai Hair and Body Scrub – 30 ml Doucce Relentless Matte Lip Crayon in Winterberry – Full Size! Retail Value $22 Mally Eyeshadow Stick in Burnished Bronze – Full Size! Retail Value $25 The Mally Eyeshadow Stick and BONUS NCLA nail polish (in color CALL MY AGENT) were both pleasant surprises. I'd never heard of an eyeshadow stick, but now I need to buy some (Mally Beauty actually sells on Amazon, looking at Pink Champagne for my next buy!). It smudges really easily before setting about 50 seconds after putting it on. A little sparkly, blends well smudging with my finger, and a surprisingly flattering color. Usually I'm bad at eyeshadow but this was super easy for a natural, flattering look. Nail polish isn't firetruck red, more like a more pink? Or salmon hued red which is flattering on my fair complexion. The clear standout of this beauty box aside from the pleasant surprises liking the eyeshadow stick and NCLA polish: a full size Sunday Riley CEO Glow Vitamin C serum. I've heard the praises heaped upon this product, and I am here for it. I need to get my skin in shape for my wedding in 8 months lol. Currently using Natrogix's vitamin C serum and liking it (softer, smoother skin so far), but interested to see how different luxury skincare compares to affordable skincare. The few complaints I would have is that the bag came with a tear down the side (not bothered, gave it to my son to put his powder brush in). And the Ouai Hair and Body scrub looked kind of like it had either been tampered with (if there was supposed to be a seal--it was super broken) and it seemed like it was more half-full than full. However, I don't know how they come packaged as I've never used it before, so it could just be like some products come with some air in it in order to keep the product good & etc right? So, not entirely sure. In short: This is an extremely affordable way to try out new makeup, skincare, hair products and nail polishes. $10/first month and $15/after is manageable for the sizes and brands of products received. Happy with my purchase and debating a third purchase. I looked ahead at the spoilers for next month and while they're not as exciting as SUNDAY RILEY! The mascara is supposed to be really good and worth the price of the subscription alone, so I'm happy to remain subscribed and gift what I don't think I'll use (but maybe switch to just one box :)). ... show more

  • Love this sub
I love sub boxes... I've been doing boxycharm for a very long time, and cancelled recently due to makeup overload. I was subbed to Allure along with BeautyFix, Sephora Play, etc. I now only sub if I like a box... if you want to know what is coming in a box, check out mysubscriptionaddiction [dot] com. Considering I'm not a huge fan of masks (okay I use it like once a year!), I decided to wait until Dec-2018 to sub. I looooove Ofra highlighters, and have been dying to try Juvia's place. I've heard so many wonderful things about their palettes. The warrior palette is a lovely warm-nude palette that I otherwise would not have purchased since I have plenty of those shades in my collection. It's very travel friendly, so I highly recommend not depotting (I regret doing that to mine!). I'm not sure if I'll stick with Allure or not at this point, as I'm pretty up their on frugality. I usually do cheap The Ordinary "dupes" to their skincare items from Sunday Riley. So we'll see. I did love Sephora Play... I found more favorites from there as they tend to send out classic type of items that most makeup aficionados already own, like benefit lip tint, hoola bronzer, Porefessional primer, etc(and somehow tons of red lipsticks... which I can't decide is better than the brown liquid lipsticks that Boxycharm would send). I have been out of the sub game when Allure was killing it this fall. I was erroneously subbed to Boxycharm which was putting out boxes like the one with the Laura Lee Party Animal palette (super cringe). I think that Allure is the best "budget" sub box. I recommend checking what is in what sub box, and only subbing to the box you want in that month. I no longer sub to a box unless I love 80% of the items and need at least 1. Take it from someone sub box savvy, the companies do "spoilers" of what's coming up. I also highly recommend subbing on Amazon. I've missed all my boxes from Feb 2018 to Nov 2018. Every time I call customer service they say my account is active, but I have no charge in my bank and no box. I called for a number of months before I gave up and said good riddance. Boxycharm offered the Holy Grail palette from Violet Voss for December, which I already own, so I had to find another box. I'm glad Allure was offered on Amazon, as I love the December box... OFRA!!!! Haha. ... show more
