I have the Darth Vader too but this is the only time a stormtrooper is my favorite. Both of them are excellently built and look premium. However, the eyes on the Darth Vader are heavily tinted/smoked and the echo dot's light isn't evident. My 2.5 year old is Darth Vader obsessed. No idea why but I managed to snag a spot to buy it for his room (requiring me to upgrade my 1st gen echo dot finally). No assembly required. Dot fits perfectly with a little slit for the wire. One downfall is it can be hard to see the light through the eyes. The blue doesn’t glow as bright as pictured. I didn’t even know it was yellow for a notification because I couldn’t see it at all. And all that was on in his room was his lamp. Red (mic off) shows through nicely. Overall, it’s cute but not 100% functional if you care to see clearly if Alexa heard you say her name or if you have a notification. As you can see, I had to turn off his lamp to get a good picture of the blue light. Red light picture is taken with lamp on. ... show more

    • Really cute but light feature is useless
As of right now, you can't really control the light or color on your echo with it being determined instead by your notifications or echo status. There's an annoying work around to get the light to stay on for 5 minutes before turning off. Considering I bought this specifically for the light feature it's a underwhelming in that regard. Otherwise it's a great stand that holds your echo and charger really well. My complaints aren't about the item itself but more about the item it pairs with. ... show more

    • OK for the kid, but not quite for me
This was for my son, so there are mixed reviews here. I wanted to love this. I was so excited about it, and so was he. I would have rated it 2 stars, but my son would have given it 4, so I settled on 3. Right off the bat, the light does not make his eyes glow. Yes, I can tell the difference between when the light is on vs when it is off, but the picture shows glowing eyes. This, is not that. The glowing eyes (or the idea of them) is the actual thing that pushed me over the edge to buy this, so for ME it was very disappointing. My son did not see the misleading advertisement picture, so he did not experience the same let down that I did. Next, you have put the Alexa device into a container. Perhaps the coolest vader-shaped container imaginable, but a container nonetheless. The speaker (output) sound seems unaffected, since it peaks out of the top. But the microphone input? It is so muffled. I thought it was because of my son not speaking clearly, but he does not have the same difficulty with other ones in the house. (we have ...too many). I realized, when I did a drop-in to talk to him in his room... I could understand him better (without the device and) through the closed door of his bedroom and down a flight of stairs ... than I could through the alexa device .... As I write this, I wonder if the microphone's poor performance is because of the muffled/coverage by the helmet? or potentially a defect in the alexa device's physical microphone itsself? I had not tested to see if the alexa device itself had a defective microphone. I'll test is this weekend and if that's the case, I'll come back and revise my feedback (and request a replacement device). Its not bad. It just feels like a knock-off quality, at the premium name-brand price. Okay for your younger kid, but not adult-level quality. ... show more
