I use Alba products because they are vegan/cruelty free and don't have parabens and phthalates. I like this product because it's not too heavy or too light. Sometimes I mix it with a liquid fake tanner/bronzer (Fakebake). It has a light, fresh, natural scent. Because of the active ingredient, 2% Salicylic Acid, it might sting/tingle a little if your face is sensitive (mine is), or you use other harsh products (like a scrub). But it is gentler than the Deep Clean Astringent (same brand/line), which causes the skin on my fingers to peel from applying it with a cotton ball. Overall, it seems to help manage my complexion. It may be a little drying to use during the winter, so I mix it with a more emollient/heavy moisturizer (like Neutrogena Naturals). If you are looking for a product to keep your skin from producing oil - I am not sure that there is such a thing or that it's even healthy, despite the claims of some companies. Moisturizes tell your skin they don't need to produce too much oil, and the salicylic acid dissolves sebum and prevents pore blockage. By late afternoon, you may still need to blot your t-zone with tissue or powder. I am really surprised that no other reviews mention the crystal-like fibers that are in the lotion. I have been buying this product since it came out from various locations and the consistency is always the same and it obviously doesn't concern me enough to stop buying it, but there are little glass or crystal-like fibers. They average about .5 - 1 cm and they break up easily when you apply the lotion and for the most part disappear. You may not even notice them. ... show more

I’ve been using this face lotion once a day for more than 6 years at least, and all I can say is that my sisters are still jealous of my skin (because they are impatient and use different lotions). This moisturizer lasts me for months at a time and yet is travel size so I can take it on a plane! It is also oil free, 100% vegetarian, not tested on animals, comes in a recycle-able bottle, and contains sunscreen (which doctors always recommend using on your face every day for protection). I literally cannot think of any cons.... Of course, all faces are different, so all I can suggest is that you try this one out! ... show more

This is the best natural and cruelty-free face lotion I've ever tried. I don't like a complicated skin care routine (neither does my breakout-prone skin). I wash my face with aleppo soap (look it up, it's awesome), apply Thayer's toner, then this lotion. It does keep my face more oil free than it was before, and it keeps breakouts to a minimum. They still happen here and there, especially with hormone fluctuations, but overall, this Alba Botanica lotion is doing a great job - without harming animals! ... show more

I really like the acne dote face wash and was hoping this would be good too. But it smells just like dry erase board cleaner. Very very strong chemical smells and it burns so much when I first put it on
