I got these for my new hyperfixation that is snowboarding. I am going to go a lot this season in order to learn and figured it would be good to have a little bit of extra padding in the booty region because I am anticipating many falls. The padding in these shorts are light duty but I feel they will provide a little extra cushion in the case of some minor falls. I wouldn't rely on them to make you invincible, but for the price they provide ample protection of your butt, hips, and tail bone. I am 5'9", 150lbs, a size 30ish waist, an athletic/average build and the large fits me perfectly. Follow the product picture sizing and you should be good. The sizing is a bit shifted since these can be for children too. I am usually a small-medium in adult sizes so keep that in mind. In terms of comfort, it's about as comfortable as I think butt padding can be. The material is stretchy but stays in place. It didn't bother me after a long day of use and there are no painful spots from tags or anything. I used it under some thermals under my snowboarding bib. Overall, I am happy with this product and would recommend it for anyone wanting some extra protection! Hope this helps ... show more

I recently acquired an E-skateboard. While trying it out, I had a slow speed fall on asphalt onto my glute. Aside from being out of commission for well over a week, this caused a lot of pain, some significant bruising, pulled groin muscle and more. It’s likely much, if not all of that could have been less severe if I had some hip and glute protection. It’s hard to say though. In motorcycling, we have an acronym: ATGATT. All The Gear All The Time. Hindsight is 20-20. D’oh! I was wearing a motorcycle helmet, a motorcycle jacket with shoulder and elbow armor, lace up hiking boots with padded ankle protection, motorcycle gloves with knuckle armor, but not these hip and butt protector padded shorts. NOTE: These are not intended for skateboarders, as they don’t have the armor needed for impact with concrete or asphalt. These are snowboard padded shorts, intended for impact with snow, which can be hard, even very hard, but not as hard as concrete. These are my “interim” padded shorts, until I find something better. They will help somewhat, perhaps even a lot, and currently are my “Go-To” hip/butt protectors every time I’m on the skateboard. No exceptions. These padded shorts seem well constructed of lightweight, 4-way stretchy material that is a little sheer when stretched. That bothered me that it was so thin, not that it would rip, although it might, I suppose, but that the padded parts would not be held firmly in place. When you are sliding, if it’s not tight, it will move. The elasticized waistband is narrow, but works well to keep the shorts up. I put them on and the 3XL size fit my 42” waist well. The pads are small and in shapes where needed, to allow for the contour of the glutes. They are designed larger to accommodate the flatter sides of the hips, and hopefully, all are large enough and stable to cover all areas well without a lot of pad migration if you do slide. There is no groin protection, so if you are male, you may want to get a cup. As they are meant for snowboarding, it’s likely that combined with insulated snow pants, they’d work well to protect you from minor spills and likely help even with some major ones. I haven’t used them for that, so I can’t speak to that. Collisions with other snowboarders, their snowboard, rocks, trees and other obstacles, would likely be less effective in preventing injuries. Still, I’m glad I found these padded shorts. Some protection is better than no protection. I think they are a good value for what you get. Recommended and would buy them again 4 STARS! ... show more

Had gotten another brand's Large size that was just Way to big on me.. but this is an XL and it fits way more snug and comfy. Im 5'10 and about 176 lbs and the XL fits really good.. it is a little bit tight and snug in the crotch area, but that is fine as id rather be a bit snug than too loose... Ive been rollerskating a lot and im 55 years olds, so don't want to deal with a broken tail bones or smashed hips. Ive been meaning to try bowl & vert skating on my roller-skates and just need that extra protection for a person my age. I might wear both sets over the other.. as I tried it and the other brands Large size is so big it fits fine over the top of this brands XL! Lol.. Better safe than sorry until I get my wings up and catching air with ease.. ... show more

The AIDY-PRO Snowboard Padded Shorts Protector is an elastic shorts with strategically placed foam pads to protect the hips and butt area. Useful for sports and activities that have higher rates of falling. I did find that the sizing is too small (got XL, which is supposedly listed for 32-36in waist). It was already tight to put on, but especially restricting tight on the thighs, so not for larger thighs. I would say definitely size up or two on this. The stitching has a couple loose threads, which could have been better. The crotch point seems it could use some reinforcements, given this is meant for high movement and activity and feels thin and prone to tearing. The foam pads are great though. Quite thick and feels very protective, and has a medium firmness. Overall, this is an alright padded shorts though definitely size up. ... show more

I ordered an X-small and it fit perfectly. Went snowboarding and fell a lot. The padding protected my sides, and hip area, but when I fell back onto my tailbone, it didn't hit any cusion and left my tailbone bruised. I think they did a great job on the design, because I don't think there is another way to get padding around the tailbone without compromising the movement of your body while skiing or snowboarding. ... show more

I wear a size 35-36 waist in pants, typically a size "large" sweatpants or thereabout. These fit appropriately, that is to say snug. The pads are sufficent to soften the impacts of ice skating with my kids or snowboarding, etc. They'll be perfect for inline skates, skateboarding, snowboarding, all that and more I think. My son recently wanted to learn how to rollerblade. His butt didn't agree with his desire to learn. So I ordered these for him and he enjoys them. He says that it doesn't hurt as much now. The padding seems good. Hopefully this will last.

We go snowboarding alot and I hurt my tailbone 2 years ago. This would have prevented that injury. I can't wait to use it and now will know it will protect me. It is very comfortable to wear inside my snow pants.
