He stayed warm all winter, plus wore it skiing, on the range, skeet competitions (winter outside). Do not recommend: I bought a size up so my son could wear it for more than one winter. It is nice and warm but the zipper is very poorly made and broke after less than 1 year. Bought February and it broke in December.

Purchased 10-12 for grandson who is 12(slender and small for his age) the jacket is for snowboarding which the weight and length seem fine. He can wear a light weight sweatshirt underneath if he wants as there is room enough for one. Only concern is the zipper. Had little trouble with it so it may not work as time goes on.. we shall see. Warm jacket. Held up to our unusually cold and snowy winter. The pattern was not in your face, but much appreciated by a sixth grader. It dried well like other coats after playing in the snow, and it survived daily school use for the season.
