This is a good, solid piece of steel, not aluminum! It was a good, tight fit on the splines- I had to use a nylon mallet to gently tap it on. The extra 2-1/4 inches are very welcome real estate for my size 13 boot! Also, an added benefit I did not anticipate is that the extra leverage makes shifting smoother and easier.     • Frees up the whole floor board.
The extended shifter looks to be of sturdy quality. It was easy to install and gets the shift peg back just behind the floor board allowing full use off the floor board. I installed it with new shifter pegs and it looks really nice. Haven’t ridden the trike with the new shifter extension yet, to cold. I’ll update if I find any concerns. Time will tell regarding durability but I don’t foresee any problem. ... show more

Actually, could have been up to 1' shorter, but fine just the way it is. Allows for a lower mounting to reduce how high you have to lift your heal or toe for shifting.

Had a standard heel / toe on my 17 Road Glide. I'm a former sport biker. I have short legs and I like my feet toward the back end of the floorboards with the edge of my heel off the back. The old shifter limited my ability to move my foot to the position I like for shifting with my heel. THIS shifter is perfect. I was afraid it would be too long, but it's just right and the heel shifts are coming from a very natural position now. It's surprisingly hefty too. Good quality, good fitment. ... show more
