These skates are perfect for kids just learning to skate. The adjustable sizing means they’ll last more than one season, and the triple protection straps give great ankle support. My daughter said they felt stable and comfortable even after a long skating afternoon. The blades needed sharpening before use, but once that was done, they glided smoothly on the ice. A reliable and well-made choice for beginners. Definitely worth buying than renting.

My kids had something similar, so when my southern nephew came to Maine for the first time in the winter I got him these. They are super easy to adjust and his toes were still warm when we took them off him.

These skates fit well on my 7 year old son. He wears a US youth size 3.5, so he falls dead in the center of the 2Y-5Y sizing, and the skates were comfortable and seemed like they will work with him for another 1-2 years. I am not really familiar with non-hockeynbrand skates for kids, as his only other pair were Bauer's that he almost immediately outgrew. So these skates should last longer, but imas an adult league hockey player, it surprised me the steel isn't removable. I don't even recall if his tiny Bauer skates had removable steel or not, but if something is suppose to last for 3 shoe sizes, it is reasonable the steel could grind down after a number of sharpens.
