I put this on my father in law's boat. His was old and creaky. This fixed it right up.The bolt pattern matched up the same as the original. I would give it five stars if it was a little more solid.

this base is good for a seat if you do not need to adjust the seat much. after extending the base up, it gets more and more play in the shaft, due to the size of the shafts being very different and not tight together. there's about a 1cm or over 1/4" difference in size of the shaft, and is very wobbly. you can see in my picture the lean that the shaft takes on when fully erected. I'm not sure about the stability on the water either, we are using this as a stand in the house at its lowest setting, so this isn't a huge concern, but I probably wouldn't use it on a boat. ... show more
