Just like in the name, Sambas are a versatile classic. For some they’re for fashion but to me they’re one of the best soccer shoes on the market. They are very comfortable with great arch support.

There are plastic versions, leather versions, and combination versions. Read your label carefully! If you obtain fully leather, then they are naturally stiff and narrow, so during the uncomfortable break-in phase, I found I need to lightly add Lanolin oil and shoe stretchers, wait several days, and use for only short term walking. After about a month of daily light wear, the shoe breaks in and then wears like nothing. Or, you could purchase kanga leather, but you'd be surely paying the price for immediate comfort. Baseball gloves tend to require the same break-in work, so no need to blame Adidas for selling real leather footwear. ... show more

    • Love the Style of the Sambas, Not a fan of the Arch Support

I've worn Sambas much throughout my youth and have always loved the style of the Samba shoe. Adidas have always run a little smaller than my actual size. Now, I typically wear a size 10.5 men's, so I ordered a size 11. The fit is perfect, however the shoe is a little tight near the toes (not uncomfortable, just tight), but after having worn them for a few weeks they've broken in and aren't as tight as when I first got them. One thing, as I have aged I no longer need arch support. In fact the arch support ends up hurting my feet and sends a sharp stinging pain from my big toe into my heel. The Sambas have a foam wedge glued inside the shoe attached to the liner for arch support. After a few days of wearing the Sambas I started feeling the pain I described above. I immediately ripped the foam arch support from inside the shoe. Since then the pain as gone and these shoes are comfortable again. My only complaint is the arch support, I hate having to perform surgery on my shoes to make them comfortable- but since it's an easy fix, 4 stars. ... show more

Had to buy them, on sale for the holidays and could not pass them up. I wore these shoes as a teenager playing indoor and outdoor soccer. Great shoes, love them.

I've loved Sambas since I was a youth player, both for soccer on artificial turf and as a comfy casual shoe. I've been wearing them for almost 40 years. Shame the don't make Wides (or at least make them readily available), but getting them a half size bigger than I would wear in Wides fits just fine. Great shoe! ... show more
