Overall, I’ve greatly enjoyed these shoes! I love the look of them, and they are now very comfortable. They were originally quite painful, as the ridiculous arch support caused my mid-foot to burn/hurt after a very short time. I ended up peeling up the insole just around the side of the foot where the arch support was, and pulled the white foam arch out. It’s a small piece and came out easily, and I didn’t even have to pull the insole all the way out like in online video tutorials. Now they feel SO much better! Other notes: These are the long-tongued version, but in my opinion they look fine without altering the tongue at all. (You can lace the shoe to hold the tongue lower if you don’t mind the tongue bunching slightly at the bottom). The gum colored sole seems to vary based on other reviews, but mine are very dark brow )to the point of looking black). At first I was disappointed, as I bought them in part for the gum soles, but the dark color (like 90% cocoa chocolate bars) has grown on me. The materials seem high quality. The leather/suede upper feels great on the foot, and I’ve had no issue with the circle tearing out of the outsole yet after a month of daily wear. ... show more

Fast approaching 40 this year, I can say that I've had a fair amount of experience with shoes in my life. In my youth, I enjoyed basketball and then skateboarding (which will annihilate shoes). I've held both blue and white collar jobs. I've been in the military, I've lived in all manner of climates, and from beaches to mountains I've spent days on end living in and around almost all types of terrain imaginable. In my opinion, the Adidas Samba is the overall "pound for pound" best sneaker out there. It's durable. It's comfortable. It looks good. Style: There's a reason why Steve Madden and so many other imitators bite the Adidas style: It's a classic, iconic design, and one that you can get away with for various levels of casual dress. Comfort: While I love an easy to slip on pair of chukkas as much as the next guy, the Samba fits like a glove. There's just the right amount of arch support so that walking, running, or even standing, your feet feel taken care of. Durability: I think it speaks volumes that there's a Samba sneaker specifically aimed at skaters, a la the Dennis Busenitz model. As mentioned before, skaters know how to tear up a pair of kicks. And while I won't disparage Busenitz's good name, if you don't really need or care for it on the side of your feet, save yourself a couple of bucks and get the same class and quality of construction in the Samba. ... show more

These are excellent shoes. I've been buying Sambas for years now. It can be difficult to find quality casual shoes. I know these are really indoor soccer shoes, but they are fantastic for walking around in and wearing casually. They are extremely comfortable and they last for many years, even if worn on a daily basis. Since they have been making this same style for so many years, there is no risk of a piece of tread wearing unevenly or falling off, or material near the toe wearing, or the heal support failing. These fit great and are comfortable. Like them a lot! Only downside is the soles are a much darker brown than the originals I used to wear playing indoor soccer. Probably not a big deal to most but it sticks out to me.

I'm a big fan of these classic Sambas. I'd never worn a pair of Adidas shoes until I picked up a pair of these sambas two years ago. I do a decent amount of walking, the first summer I had a pair of these I put a little over 500 miles on them. These shoes are not comfortable from the get-go, they're stiff and unyielding. As you break them in they become some of the most comfortable things you can put on your feet, light and malleable they become an extension of your foot in a way I've never experienced in a shoe before. That said, they aren't invincible and the sole began wearing thin about 1,000 miles in, they didn't bust but at the point where I wore the shoes out the hardest you could poke the sole and feel it give. I kept wearing them until you could see light shine through the soles. Even then I was reluctant to replace them because they were just so darn comfortable. But it happened, after about a year and a half the sole gave out, I stepped on a bumpy bit of sidewalk outside of a department store and the rubber gave out. The new pair I picked up a month ago are a lot less uncomfortable than I remember my first pair being, but there's still a lot to be done to wear them in properly. I'm looking forward to another year and a half of stalwart service and unparalleled foot comfort. I still have shoes of other brands I wear for varying purposes, but it always feels odd wearing shoes that feel like shoes after knowing how much better it can be. ... show more

At age 51, I ordered my first pair of these since I was a soccer player in high school. They remain incredibly comfortable and stylish looking, whether worn with low cut socks or barefoot. Caution: the arch supports are really high in these shoes, and may take some getting used to. However, they make your feet feel great at the end of the day. I don't wear them to play soccer, but they work great as both a walking shoe and as an everyday run around shoe. Highly recommended. ... show more
