  • Nice journal
I am 2 weeks into this journal and I like it. Each week has 7 prompts so it's nice to do one everyday, or you could wait until the end of the week and do a reflection of the week and complete all of them at once. I like doing 1 a day because it allows me to take a break from work to slow down and focus on what I am writing. ... show more

  • Personal Development Journey
As a person who has recently become closer with nature, I am learning to have gratitude in little things, let go of what doesn't matter and find peace. This book will definitely help me on this journey.

  • The timing is odd
I was very excited to get this book. I received it today, because it was just released yesterday (September 24th, 2020)...and the book starts week one in Spring. September release...and the Week 1 starts in Spring. I tend to be detail oriented and if something small seems off, it's going to bother the hell out of me. It may seem minor to someone else, but I can't get past it. I was just flipping through it and it seems the book will periodically remind you what season the book is in with a daily exercise being season themed or the fact that every other page has the season at the bottom of it, but it won't be what season you're actually in in real life. "Oh, just shut up and start in Autumn (Fall)!" Some might say. Well, then according to the book, I'll be starting in week 27. Again, maybe a minor detail that is easily overlooked by others. I'm just very confused as to why it would stress the seasons so much, then be released out of season. Am I expected to wait until Spring 2021 to start? I'm already losing my Zen just thinking about this ... show more

  • A Beautiful Journal
I was a little reluctant to order this journal because the word "Zen" has often led me to concepts that I didn't really understand. So far, however, I have found the writing prompts in A Year of Zen to be sensible but thought provoking. The pages are made of quality paper and the illustrations on each page add a lovely touch without being overwhelming. The journal starts with the first week of spring, but since I received it later in the spring, I started writing on the week that corresponded with the actual calendar week I got it. I did not respond to each of the seven days for which prompts were given. Some seemed to need more thought. My plan is to write in response to those that I can answer now, then follow up next year as the seasons roll by. I think it will be interesting in a year to see how I responded to prompts the previous year. All-in-all, my response to this journal is very favorable! ... show more

  • Good prompts, bad binding
Some of the prompts are a bit bizarre but, for the most part, thought-provoking. However, the soft back binding makes it so difficult to actually physically write on many of the pages. Maybe it will become more flexible and flat the more I open and use it, but currently I'm struggling to write on the inner left pages (right handed) because my hand has to hold the pen and the other half of the book. ... show more
