I was unsure what kind of jumbled mess would await, but I think I had to fix about 15-20 sharpeners so it wasn’t bad. Overall sharpener quality is pretty good for a bargain price. These sharpen higher quality pencils and colored pencils like a dream (yellow Dixon-Ticonderoga pencils become almost dangerously sharp). Mid-range pencils (2nd pencil from left in photo) did okay as well. Budget/cheap pencils will die a horrible death with these sharpeners though. They gray pencil in my photos snagged, lost a chunk of lead, and caused the wood to split down the side. Capacity-wise, you can sharpen a few dull pencils or about 1 new/unsharpened pencil to a nice point. Some of the lids don't snap together quite as tightly, but I purchased these to cut down on the trips kids make to the wall pencil sharpener in the middle of something important. They can empty them at an appropriate time. I think my middle school students will like the color choices and the smaller size 1” L x 5/8” W x 7/8” H: these can easily fit into pockets or pencil cases. ... show more

    • Inexpensive but cheap quality.
I ordered these for Operation Christmas Child to put with school supplies. I opened the box and caps and sharpeners went everywhere. Had to match them up and put them back together. When I added them to the zipper pouch of pencils and crayons, they fell apart again. Should have sent them back.

Bought these in bulk so we could put them in Christmas boxes to go to children in need around the world. They are a bit chinsy, but will work for a little while to keep pencils sharp. I ended up including two in each box since they seemed like they might break or fail after sharpening a few pencils. Watch out for the little dome caps! They do NOT fit tightly on the sharpeners so be mindful if you have tiny children around. ... show more
