2 of the 6 bearings had barely any grease in them. my application is a mower deck spindle that has grease zerks, so i planned to remove 1 seal from each bearing from the beginning, facing the open side toward the zerk, so that they could actually be greased. If you are buying these to use as-is as sealed bearings, the lack of grease in some would be a premature point of failure. Can the seals be removed and then reinstalled? I have no idea, i found the best way to remove a seal was to use a dental pick on the inner rim of the seal. I am sure that removing the seal voids any warranty, but that was the plan of my use-case from the beginning. EDIT: a great tool for installing these into spindles is a PVC coupling with a saw cut lengthwise. the couplers at my local store were 1/32" too large of an OD to fit in the spindle, the saw slit let it go in flawlessly. much less likely to foul the aluminum bearing seat with PVC and rubber mallet than the old school method of using a socket as a punch for a hammer. ... show more

    • Great Replacement Bearings for the John Deere LA145 48 inch Mower Deck Spindles
Found the old spindle bearings on my John Deere LA145 48-inch Mower Deck worn out so I purchased these replacement bearings to replace them with since the spindles and the spindle housings were still in good shape. The bearings are held in place in the housings by an interference fit so to install the bearings I used a large socket and a ball peen hammer to lightly tap them into place. The new bearings fixed the problem and the mower deck spindles function like new. The package arrived in excellent condition and ahead if the scheduled delivery date. Riding lawnmower, I’ve had my car longer then I’ve had my riding lawnmower the bearings in my car are still good the bearings in my riding lawnmower I had to Replace. Riding lawnmower bearings John Deere poor quality metal.

East install in two old spindles. I ordered the wrong replacement pulley so I'm just going to go ahead and try one of these in that instead. They also were the right size so fingers crossed. LA115

These installed easily. Two are already in use on a lawn tractor when yet another spindle failed just weeks after ordering these to have on hand after the two other spindles had already failed this season, and another two are slated for rebuilding one of the removed spindles as soon as I have time to get the old bearing chase out, so I have one ready to go the next time a spindle fails. Hopefully the remaining parts and the next spindle failure will be enough to do a last spindle rebuild, but these will all get used eventually and save me 60% compared to a new spindle. ... show more
