  • 4.0 out of 5 stars Awesome pants, in my case to big and be wear of returning shipping costs when NO prime member
I bought this EMS pants for my self ( I am 6 ft tall and weight 180 pounds ). Because everyone suggested to take 2 sizes larger then your normal size, I ordered a size 14. The size 14 was TO big. After that I ordered a size 12 but also that one is to large. I think I stay with a size 10 and that's my normal size. The quality of the pants is great, heavy, good quality fabric. The only thing is, if you are not a Amazon Prime member, you have to pay 7,99 shipping costs when the pants is not the right size........that's sad! ... show more

  • 1.0 out of 5 stars Are blind drunk people sewing these pants?
I have now ordered 2 pairs of these. The first, a size 8, I couldn't even get over my hips. I normally wear 8, 10, or 12, depending on cut. Sent those ones back and ordered a 12, based on reviews. The 12's I received are a 12 in NO ONE'S world. These pants are HUGE!! I'm 5'5" and 145 lbs. My husband is 5'10" and 235 lbs. These pants were too big on HIM! I'm giving up on ordering these things - I'm going to try to source them locally, or just buy a completely different pair. This is ridiculous. Oh, and let's not forget that this particular seller doesn't offer a sizing chart through Amazon, so there's no way to even begin to guess what size I would actually wear. So frustrating! ... show more

I received these pants today. I haven't yet worn them to work for the ultimate est but so far they're great. I normally wear a 4 and ordered a 6. They fit nice and have full mobility.

  • 5.0 out of 5 stars Love these! Have information about fit...
Just received these pants today. Up until now I've been wearing cheap (mens) cargo pants that I got at Walmart. While they worked for uniform purposes...I was really tired of having the baggy "men's fit". A lot of people I know recommended 511 brand due to durability, function, and comfort. I was told they are worth the price (which is actually better here, I have seen them for $80 in local stores). Since I just got them today, I have not had time to actually field test them yet. So far though I love the fit, they feel great, and I'm really happy with all the different pockets/places for things. I love they are specially designed with EMS in mind and not simply a "cargo" pant. FITTING: I had gone to the 511 site to look at correct sizing. I even took the time to actually measure my waist and hips. I'm 5'6" and about 145lbs. I measured my waist at 26" and my hips at 39". (I have an hourglass shape with a small waist, but bigger hips/thigh/butt). According to the sizing chart on the 511 site I would have worn a size 4 (based on waist) and a size 10 (based on hips). I tend to wear between a size 4 and size 8 depending on brand/cut in other pants. I was going to order the size 6 (midway size of what I normally wear, and about midway point for sizes on 511 site). Then I took the time to read all the reviews on here where everyone was talking about "off" the sizing is. Most people suggested ordering 2 sizes up from what you think you need and one person suggested going with whatever size fit your hip measurement on the 511 site. For me 2 sizes up from what I was going to order (6) and the size that fit my hip measurement (39") both happened to be size 10. So 10 it was. I ordered them and anxiously tried them on when they arrived, nervous that I would have to return them. They fit perfectly!! I probably could have gotten away with the 8...but they would have ending up being very form fitting with not much wiggle room (not good for the EMS field that requires lots of movement and bending...plus the whole "professional" looking thing. ;) ). If I put the pants on with the waistband at my actual waist...the pants are a little big. I happen to be one of those people who wears my pants more towards my hips than my "actual waist" (as most of us younger generations do, but I mention this for some of the older women who may be looking into these) and these pants fit perfectly that way. Not so low as to where I seem like a teenager at the mall, but in a spot of comfort for me, where I feel like I'm wearing normal fitting pants instead of high-waisted ones. Room to move without the pants being "baggy" but a more feminine appearance than the men's fit I've been wearing. I also tend to like my pants longer and even though I'm 5'6" I go with "long" lengths to have pants fit at the length I desire. For a work pant however, I didn't want a chance of them dragging the ground and/or getting caught under my boots. I ordered the regular length and its an excellent fit. While a bit higher than my everyday pants, they are perfect for EMS use. Standing up with boots on they cover my ankle and touch the top of my foot, sitting down they rise up a little above my ankle bone. Overall I'm really happy with the fit. Perfect for a professional, but comfortable, pant. Hopefully all of this information about my fit experience will help you to get the right size for yourself. In summary: Great pair of pants. Very comfortable. Professional yet feminine fit.Lots of pockets/places to store things. Go to the 511 site, look at the sizing chart for these pants. Order based on hip size, not waist, or about 2 sizes up from what you think you need. Don't order long unless you really are above 5'7" or like the possibility of your pants dragging the ground. ... show more

  • 4.0 out of 5 stars Looks like 511 may have fixed the sizing...
I rarely write reviews, but figured I'd put my 2 cents in about the sizing since all previous reviews talked about how awful it was. I wear a 6 short in all my other pants, but after reading the reviews here and looking at 511's sizing chart, I bought a 6 and 8 anticipating I'd have to send one back. They actually both fit. I'm 5'2" and 115 pounds. The 6 fits fine (the waist is even a little big), but when I did my little aerobics routine to make sure I could move in them, they got a little constricting in the knees/thighs- not so much that I can't do my job, but I prefer baggy pants over form fitting pants. The 8, as you can imagine, is a little looser in the waist, but I can do all the squats and steps in the world and they don't constrict my movement at all. Both the 6 and the 8 fit over my waist and my butt without looking like they're painted on...they actually look pretty sharp. In the future, I'll probably buy size 8, but I won't be returning the 6 I just bought either. When in question, check out 511's sizing chart. It seems pretty accurate. Minus one star for not making these with "short" inseams! Short people never get any love...except from the tailors who get all our business. :) ... show more

  • 4.0 out of 5 stars Run quite Small
I love these pants. I have used them all my years in EMS. They really do last. However, they run small. I am usually a 10-12 in pants, however I have to order a 16. That isn't just like one size. But overall, great quality.

  • 1.0 out of 5 stars good for work
They are to stiff to really enjoy wearing. They are also big on me which was my mistake reading the other reviews. Not really happy about them but they will do ok for work. Review went from 3 to 1 stars. The reason was the zipper didn't go up or down. Also the crotch ripped out in the first week even though they were big on me. The main reason however is I was offered partial refund only if I left a five star review. I don't believe you should be forced to leave a higher review when the merchandise is faulty. ... show more

  • 5.0 out of 5 stars Love. Measure before buying!
Love these pants. Very comfortable. Not too heavy. Great fit. They conture to a women's shape nicely. I'm 5'6 and 135-140lbs. I went by the sizing chart hip measures on the 5.11 site and I measured to an 8 so that's what I got and they fit perfectly. I bought the regular length and for my height that is perfect. They do not run the ground when wearing my work boots. They look black in the picture but they are actually a dark navy. Very happy and pleased. IMPORTANT NOTE: Normally I'd wear a 4-5-7 depending on pant brand and make so as the other reviews say, go up at least 2 sizes and measure yourself before buying! ... show more
