I bought this pair of boots after literally wearing all the tread off of a different pair of 5.11 boots (exact pair but 8in instead of 6). I wore these boots in a fast food setting for almost a year and they have held up spectacularly, they are comfortable, sturdy and still to this day non-slip. I recently took up a new job in asset protection and I walk around almost 5-6 hours a day, and I stopped wearing tennis shoes in favor of these year old boots. It's a bit of a gamble ordering clothing online but I was confident after seeing the reviews for these shoes. My last ones had cheap hoodie-type zippers that arched in a half circle down the ankle (not the best design) and survived 11 years of use daily, but I was sad when I couldn't find them anymore after the zipper stitching detached from the shoe (right along the half-circle point which I knew would eventually be a weak point). Having found these they looked nice and a key item I was looking for was the quality of the zipper, which on these 5.11 shoes is quality duffle-bag quality and much more designed for the wear and tear feet go through. What I wasn't expecting is the quality of the rest of the shoe. Fantastic stitching, SOLID soles and metal caps through the laces. The first few days I felt like I was wearing ski boots they were so solid, but happy to say that 6 days in and they've softened nicely to my feet and are unbelievably comfortable. I wear these as a daily shoe for casual and business casual, as well as for riding my motorcycle. I may order a second pair just for storage since finding a good shoe is very hard and eventually I'll need a replacement. ... show more

If you are using these for the academy or police/military use, they are NOT leather. Which means, it is very difficult to polish these boots. I tried to get a shine for quite a while with no luck. I find the fit to be narrow. In Redwing and Wolverine boots I wear standard width but these are tight across the arch and toe area even fully unlaced. I think a couple days on the stretcher will make them more comfortable. If in doubt I suggest getting the wide size. Had I ordered the wide I think comfort would be 5 star. Happy with the looks and perceived quality of manufacturing. Update: after 24 hours with shoe stretcher inside they fit much more comfortably. Upgrade to 5 star. ... show more
