  • Perfect for my 6 yr olds Earth project
Style: Earth & Moon Model Kit
My 6 yr old had a project to make a picture or model of the Earth. This kit was perfect for what we wanted. My 6 yr old was able to paint the moon and earth by herself with little help from myself. The kit was easy to assemble. The earth and moon came in two halfs that click together very easily. They both have etched printing. The earth has islands and continents on it that helps with painting them. My kiddo and I painted a vague outline of the globe. We did not use the glow in the dark pain mainly because we were short on time. The earth spins and the moon rotated around the earth which my daughter loved. It was tight and squeaky at first but by the time she brought it back home from school it rotated smoothly. Both the earth and the moon slide off easily if the whole thing is picked up but we don't move it often. Overall the kit was great. Perfect for school projects or just to display. ... show more

  • Makes Story Time Fun For Toddlers!
Style: Moon Torch Projector
My two year old daughter saw the super large Harvest moon this Autumn above the tree line in our backyard and my wife and I got a million questions about the moon. I figured to use the moment to narrate one of the brilliant Native American Origins Tale: "Coyote and the Eagle steals the sun" and it becomes the cold winter moon. In telling the story indoors it is recommended that using a flashlight on a dark or dimly lit ceiling works great for representing the moon. This Moon Torch is the perfect tool for that! Check out my gallery-product pictures. PROS: -Works great as described. My unit came clean and clear of bugs inside the lens. Also has batteries preloaded inside. -Small size makes it great for tiny toddler hands to hold. We were using a larger flashlight that was hard for my daughter to grab. Also the battery door screw down to lock then in place which prevents toddlers from accidentally accessing the small batteries. -Lens rotates which does not enlarge the image of the moon as I had initially thought. Instead the further away you cast the image the larger the image will be and the lens rotation works to focus the image whether your moon is 5 inches across on a wall a foot away from you or 10 feet across on the ceiling above your head. -Led is very bright and even in a dimly lit room your kids will see the moon. This is great since some kids may not prefer to be told stories in a fully dark room. -A cool trick is mimicking the cycles of the moon by passing your finger over the surface of the lens. This will show a crescent moon exactly as it looks in the sky! CONS: At this price point there are no real cons that would turn me away from buying more of these but if you must nit pick: -The base of the torch has a key chain loop attached. I would have preferred a flat base so you can set it down and let it shine upwards. With the key chain loop you always have to be holing it up to shine the image on the ceiling. Even if it came with a small kick stand to hold it upright to keep on a night stand during story time would be nice. -While the device works flawlessly the construction is made of cheap plastics (hence the $5 price tag). It is good enough quality to last a long enough time under average normal usage HOWEVER around unsupervised toddlers, who throw everything around, don’t expect this Moon Torch to last too long. A few drops to the ground may send you back here to Amazon to buy a few more Moon Torches. OVER ALL: We are very ecstatic to see our daughter happy learning about the Moon, and also Science, thru oral story telling with the visual aid of this cool toy. ... show more

  • Smart and easy set
Style: Solar System Planetarium
This was quite simple and a lot of fun to do with my kid. The instructions were very clear and everything fit together (mostly) like it was supposed to. There were a few flaws, however, that made me take off a star: It is smaller than it is made to look on the box. Some of the planets would not snap together fully, leaving a small gap at the equator. Finally, the paint has remained tacky even after several days of drying. Because the distance between the inner planets is so small, the tacky paint makes a few of the planets stick together. I also used some of my own acrylic paints to get the exact colors that I wanted. Overall, it is a smart little set and looks very good when done. ... show more

  • My kids are obsessed!
Style: Moon Torch Projector
Such a simple little thing but so cool! The battery life is pretty short and they aren't common batteries, so have to be ordered. But the replacements are cheap. I also wish you could change planets because only having the moon is random. My kids always have it in their forts though, and it's a great stocking stuffer. ... show more

  • Just okay
Style: Moon Torch Projector
My daughter likes it, so there's that. I didn't check product dimensions, and that's my fault. But it is super small. Smaller than a can of soda. The moon is very undefined, very blurry. My daughter is only 3, loves the moon, and loves flashlights so she likes it. But it is probably only worth like $4. I feel bad paying more than $6 for this. The second picture is it at about 6 feet away. Oh well! ... show more

My 5 year old son and I had a great time assembling and painting this set up. Was really great. The glow in the dark paint did not work but everything else perfect.
