  • This was awful!
Color: Pearl Size: King
This was truly polyester and nothing else. Not even close to silk. I’m not sure how or why it was marketed in this way, and especially at such an exorbitant price for fancy plastic fibres, but make no mistake, this is in no way even remotely close to silk.

  • Soft is a Understatement
We had a wonderful nights sleep last night. The mulberry hypoallergenic silk sheets made our sleep about as comfortable as one can be. The softness they exhibited cannot be replicated with any other material that I can think of. We definitely are being pampered and bedtime doesn’t seem to come quick enough. It was a very pleasant experience that we very much enjoyed. The stitching throughout the four piece sheet set of two pillow cases, one flat sheet and a fitted sheet were excellent and consistent. There were no manufacturing errors anywhere and no loose threads, not a single stitch or thread out of place period. That’s a good sign of excellent quality control at the source. Very nice. Five Stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️!!! ... show more

  • Seem to be real; looks like silk or polyester under a microscope and sleeps like silk
This seems to be real, and seems well made. It's a 4 piece set, so fitted sheet, flat sheet, and two pillowcases for the queen set. Silk charmeuse is likely a crowd pleaser for a bedding texture, but requires special washing and air drying, and can be damaged easily while in use. Pillowcases only are easier maintenance and may be an economical option, or for silk because of the price separates for fitted and flat sheet are almost always available and my be more economical. That said, if you want a 4 piece set, then this one seems to be good quality and seems to be real silk. How is silk to sleep in?: I do exclusively natural fibers for bedding, and over the past few years, I have upgraded to higher end fibers like linen and silk from just plain old cotton. This is my second silk sheet, because a few years ago some of the Lilysilk 19 momme colors were at an unusually low price for just those colors, and I tried out silk then. In general, silk chiffon has that sleek feel like polyester imitation silk, but unlike polyester it sleeps cool and wicks moisture really well. So, the texture is satin, but then it sleeps cool. I don't necessarily think that it is the best you can get for sheets (I prefer linen), but it's very likely to be a crowd pleaser because of feeling soft combined with the interesting thermal properties. Basically with real silk, you get that soft silky texture and then it sleeps cool, whereas synthetics sleep hot and can feel gross from sweat. Care: Silk is made of protein, as is wool. So when you wash, wash like wool and use a Woolite or other detergent that does not have enzymes. Baby shampoo will work, which I have learned from quilting forums, and I have used baby shampoo on my silk pillowcases for many washes without any apparent trouble. Enzymes which are common in regular detergents sold mainly for polyester and cotton will break down the silk fibers. I hand wash all silk, although I think that washing it in a zippered pillow case or in a mesh laundry bag would work as well. Then hang to dry. Silk charmeuse is thin and should dry pretty fast. Silk charmeuse is also generally less durable than other weaves. I actually almost never use silk because I have cats, and I don't want them to get in bed and pick at the silk with their claws. Also, my husband tends to have foot calouses that crack, and if he has cracks, I won't use silk because I feel it may snag. So, silk charmeuse is a little high maintenance when in use. Charmeuse is the easiest to get, and it refers to that satin weave. Really silk can be woven any way that any fiber can be, but charmeuse satins is somehow what's manufactured and sold. I feel like the potential for snagging is a bigger deal than is special washing instructions (basically wash it in Woolite or baby shampoo and when it's wet don't pull on it or get it wrapped up in a washing machine spin cycle). Silk pillowcases can be a nice medium between trying out silk, and some of the care and maintenance issues. There are many silk pillowcases, and they are pretty affordable. They also take up no space, so are super fast to wash in a bucket. Put it in, add baby shampoo, slosh it around, let it sit, slosh it around, rinse and hang. It's very casual and doesn't require as much space as a silk sheet. Also, cats tend to stay off the pillows and they aren't near feet, so are not likely to snag. I'm just saying, in case you want to get silk into bed in a cheaper low maintenance way. Many brands also sell the fitted sheet separately, in case you are like me and tend not to use the flat sheet. Is this real?: This seems real. For a while, I was burn testing everything. Now I am trying to do it by feel. I'm going with this being real based on it sleeping cool. I'm in Florida, where it's hot, and this slept cool, like real silk. It looks like polyester or silk under the microscope (those look about the same to me), but doesn't feel hot. I think it's real. It does not have the distinctive smell that I remember from real silk, but I think that recent manufacturing processes now remove the silk smell. Weight and construction: 19 momme tells you the thickness of the silk. You can google to find more about that. Basically 19 momme is thick enough for sheets, but is as thin as you should go. The fitted sheet has elastic all the way around the bottom. The pillowcases have a tiny bit of burgundy piping around all the edges and have a zipper closure. Pillow cases are double chain stitched around the edges and then the raw edges are serged together to prevent unraveling. Something a little nicer about these is that I feel they left enough fabric edge at each seam. For silk, sometimes seams are very close to the edge, which means if a seam starts to unravel, it can't be mended, and these are not like that. Off brand oddness: The sheets came packaged basically in a ziplock baggie that had split open in the mail, and that was in the plastic shipping bag from Amazon which kept the sheets clean. It's a little odd. Then the "Wake Up Gorgeous" on the tag was a sticky label stuck onto the real tag. I peeled it off and it revealed the real tag in the sheets was for Vogue Silk. I take this to mean that the same sheets are made in one factory and sold by many drop shippers. (Also make sure you check tags and peel off the Wake Up Gorgeous sticky label from off of the sewn in tag before washing.) Overall, I think this set is good enough quality, and it's OK. It is in a price range that overlaps with name brand and with silk, there are many counterfeits or things sold as silk, but then they actually meant silky texture and it's not real. These Wake Up Gorgeous sheets do seem to be real, but for silk in particular, unless it's a really good deal, consider sticking to name brands. ... show more
