Description

Simplicity is the key to Dan's golf coaching. He has created a short game system that any golfer can apply with immediate results – breaking down how you can improve your short game by learning new techniques and increasing your golfing IQ. Combining better technique and a better way of thinking will improve your ability to perform on the golf course. Amateurs tend to have very little understanding of the short game when playing golf, specifically how it differs from the long game or how they can make better decisions. They have no plan. This book will give you a clear, simple system you can apply immediately and further enjoy your golf. 3 Releases: The Short Game System will give you the three key shots you need around a green. A low-running chip shot, a soft- landing spin shot, and the lob shot. You will learn the set-up and swing fundamentals to execute these shots. In addition to the greenside shots you will learn the art of bunker play and pitching, along with many other specialist shots to add to your repertoire. Dan has taught these shots to hundreds of Tour Professionals and his clients have won Major Championships, Tour Championships, and several European Order of Merit titles. As well as learning these exact techniques, proven at the highest level, you will acquire crucial performance skills. You will develop an understanding of the intricacies of assessing the lie, the art of practice and, fundamentally, how to learn so you can perform to the best of your ability. Illustrated with hundreds of photographs, including swing sequences and practice drills, 3 Releases is your ultimate short game guide. Dan Grieve is head golf professional at the internationally renowned Woburn Golf Club, home of the European Tour's British Masters for many years and 10-time venue for the Women's Open Championship. • The best short game book, hands down!
Format: Paperback
This book is an absolute short game, game changer. After having a decent short game for years I suddenly developed short game yips and it nearly ruined golf for me. The techniques and mindsets in this book were an absolute cure. Here's why: -Each shot is explained in detail, but with simple and easy to understand terms; non-technical. -When and why to use each shot is explained in addition to the "how," opening many more options up around the green. -Dan does an amazing job of connoting "feel" for the shots and movements and offers many helpful tips to obtain that feel...something very hard to do in print. For instance, I was struggling with my swing being disconnected from my body...all arms and hands. The thought of "pushing through the left shoulder" to start the backswing immediately improved chest rotation. -Each chapter ends with a short list of the important components of the shot coupled with photos making it VERY easy to take with you to the range or course. I added the checklists as notes on my phone for reference while practicing and it's magical. I recommend this book for ANYONE who golfs...from beginner to plus handicap. And if you want visuals, check out his instrgram feed. Thank you Dan! ... show more

  • Short Game Explained
Format: Paperback
This is the greatest book I have ever read on the short game. It gives you easy to follow instruction on 3 different releases for almost any situation. This book coupled with his you tube videos, will definitely improve your short game.

  • Written by the wedge wizard himself…12/10 would recommend.
Format: Paperback
Dan is an wizard when he gets a wedge in his hand and this book does a great job of relaying THE BASICS of establishing a smart, consistent, and reliable short game. The terminology and explanations in the book are straight to the point and very understandable at first read. The images that accompany the text are also top tier quality to really highlight the key areas of importance when developing your green side chipping AS WELL AS the dreaded ‘feel’ shots on approach. I can’t recommend this book enough if you’re serious about trying to score, especially beginners. I’ve always take pride in my short game but this book really has made me feel like there is no spots on my local muni’s where I would be completely hopeless. That’s an incredible confidence boost to take into a round. Don’t focus on hitting the ball 300+ yards off the tee…focus on chipping/pitching because that’s where it can really make or break the card. Dan is the man if you are looking to develop your short game shots as well as your course management when it comes to different types of lies we deal with on the course throughout the year. TL;DR if you’re serious about golf and want to put that go-to never going to shank chip shot in the bag as well as the ‘im screwed’ bail out shot that ya might not need often but when you do, you’ll be glad you looked to Dan for the info, he’s the best in the business in my humble 16 handicap opinion. Cheers Dan, you’ve changed my game and so many others. ... show more

  • This book will REALLY revolutionize your short game and lower your handicap quickly.
Format: Paperback
I’m a big fan of Dan Grieve and his three releases. I discovered his YouTube videos, which are both instructional and entertaining. I love the guests he features and the way he explains his thought processes on the course. After hearing him mention his book a couple of times, I just had to order it. He’s incredibly clear, and what he shares completely transformed my short game. It went from fair to okay with the occasional flub, and now it’s actually quite good and play with more confidence. I shaved several strokes off my handicap, dropping from a 12 to an 8.5 index almost instantly! Nothing I have ever done (lessons etc) has shaved more stokes in a shorter time than this approach) I hope to meet him someday to thank him personally. I’d love to take a lesson from him, but with an ocean between us, that seems unlikely. Between his book and online videos, he has the power to truly change your short game golfing life. The key to his approach is the setup. You may not be able to swing like Rory or Bryson, but you can certainly set up to the ball as well as they do for a chip shot, and that’s 90% of it in my opinion. Nail your short game setup, and you’ll improve—he shows you how. If you have the right setup, even with a rare miss hit it still gets pretty close. To be honest, this knowledge has earned me far more money in skins games than the book cost, so it essentially paid for itself many times over. I am not a coach, but I had my wife follow his set up for short game and it produced a lot of smiles. Buy this book and watch his videos. This guy is the real deal. Thanks, Dan! ... show more

  • Good Short Game Book
Format: Kindle
This book was very good. It covered all of the technical elements needed to have a very good short game. It included how to play bunker shots, chipping, pitching, how to practice etc. etc. My one criticism would be that it doesn't really cover confidence. When I play with golfers you can see a lack of confidence before the shot that affects the outcome. I can understand that improved technique will help with confidence but it helps to have some confidence in the first place. Apart from that, this is a good book on the short game. ... show more

  • Powerful yet simple
Format: Paperback
Dan’s book is packed with a lot of insights and instructions yet is simple to follow and implement. While there’s still a long way to go for me to improve my short game, Dan has helped bring a lot more consistency and clarity to my game. Highly recommend for most skill levels.

  • I hated short game before I bought this book.
Format: Kindle
I hated short game before I bought this. One aspect that I think really adds to the usefulness of this book is the amount of online content that Dan makes available. It really helps when working on the fundamentals in this book. I’m confident with my short game now, and even have had random golfers that I’ve played with told me that I have a good short game. Don’t get me wrong still a long way to go and the system in this book is a commitment. It’s taken me 2 years to get to this point. There is no such thing as a quick fix, ... show more
