This stuff works! We have a 3yo male cat who is fixed but started spraying when a new cat joined our household. I sprayed this product in the main area it was happening and a couple other places I’d found urine. The main area is tile floor and the outside of wood cabinet door. He went to his main spot several times after I treated it, sniffed around a little and walked away. No spraying! As per bottle instructions, I’ve been hitting the area maybe once a day with a light mist just to keep it that way. The second area is on a small throw rug in front of the back door. I had washed the rug and treated it with this product but he did spray on that again. I’ve replaced the rug, thinking maybe the urine smell was still there and attracting him, even though I can’t smell it. I treated the new rug with this spray and so far, so good. The spray definitely has an odor but it’s not unpleasant to me. It’s like a spicy herby scent. Since it contains Rosemary oil, lemongrass and cinnamon, that makes sense :) I’m not sure how it will work on carpet or furniture if your pet is spraying there. Might have to repeat treatment of that area more frequently to get the behavior to stop. For me, it was easier to try replacing the $10 rug. Highly recommend! ... show more

Instead of keeping my cat away, it attracts him even more

Sprayed it on my curtains as my cat has been scratching them and getting stuck and now my cat is even MORE attracted to the curtains... utterly ineffective, actually did the opposite of what it should do.

Its okay

The spray smells okay, has a little bit of a funk to it and seems like alot comes in a bottle. Its semi-effective and I think is going to be on a cat by cat basis. Some of them stayed away and stopped their clawing while others didnt seem to mind the taste or smell at all.

It did deter him from chewing on my plants, but he's still been at the furniture (booooo....hisss!!!) Our goal with the spray - stop kitty from clawing furniture; it's leather, ya jerk! - stop lil monster from eating my plants (and throwing up after munchfest) Pros - worked well for plants, even with only a few applications - super bitter, remnants on my own hands made it harder to chew my nails - hasn't negatively impacted my plants or furniture - big bottle lasts a while Cons - have to really follow the directions and spray every 24 hrs for the persistent kitties - super strong smell, not bad, but I was a little concerned about the pups who aren't clawing the furniture and eating my plants ... show more

Still effective years after application and works great on puppy

It’s almost 2027. I bought this in 2024 and I’ve barely used the bottle because it lasts so long. I got it to stop my cats from chewing on wires. I also put it on my Christmas tree and every year since it’s still on it where, when I set it up, I’ll accidentally touch my face/mouth and GAG the bitter taste just hits me. Idk if my bottle is like mixed wrong because I have no idea how this doesn’t stop any other cat OR human. It also is extremely effective on my 12 week old puppy. I was buying anti chew sprays and remembered I had this… wiped it on the baseboards (don’t spray it, you will NOT be okay) and the puppy was absolutely horrified it was so bitter and hasn’t touched the baseboards since. ... show more

It doesn't work

Does not work as advertised. It is so bad it attracted the cat instead. This product is a complete waste of money. The only reason I'm giving it 2 stars instead of 1 is because it worked for a few hours before my cat decided she actually loved it. 1. Smell The smell is pungent. It's strong enough for you to taste it. Even if you air out the room it will still take hours for the smell to completely leave. 2.effectiveness It's useless, I was initially willing to accept the smell thinking it was necessary to deter the cat. However, The smell has the opposite effect. I have a kitten of 4 months, I think the only reason she avoided the area I sprayed at first was because the smell was a brand new thing she hadn't experienced before and was cautious. After a while she would come strolling in from the other room when I sprayed it. It was attracting her instead of keeping her away. I over saturated my dining room table thinking it wasn't working because I hadn't used enough of the spray. My cat took that as a dare and proved me wrong. Eventually I just gave up. Save your money and don't make the same mistake I did. If you made it this far I'll tell you what worked before. Prior to this I used nature miracle platinum pet block for cats and that product while not perfect worked far better than this. My only gripe was the fact the bottle didn't last and the consistency of the spray was closer to foam than liquid. The whole reason I was looking for something else was because I needed something I wouldn't have to waste too much money on. This is a poor replacement. Someone recommended I make my own at home deterrent. If it works I'll come back in a few weeks and edit this review with the formula. The deterrent I made didn't work. I ended up using a combination of positive reinforcement and a motion activated dererrent. That did the trick for me. I wish you the best in whatever method you choose to attempt to train your cat. Stress free Christmas tree this year!

This is the second Christmas I've had with my cat, and didn't want to skip having a tree this year. My cat will put almost anything in his mouth, so I didn't think anything would deter him from chewing on a Christmas tree. So I bought this spray, along with a medium-sized faux houseplant to test it out. I sprayed the plant generously, and put it out where the cat could easily get to it. He was predictably curious and immediately went over to check it out, but after catching a whiff of it - stopped cold in his tracks (looked at me like I was a monster), and never bothered the plant again. So I went ahead and bought an artificial Christmas tree (my cat also likes to drink out of water glasses, so I didn't want to risk him drinking tree water). I sprayed the tree in the box, then the full bottom portion of the tree all the way to the center once it was assembled. The next day I put lights on it and gave it another spray. 6 hours later, just for good measure, I sprayed it again. So far the cat hasn't wanted to chew on it at all! Once he went over to check it out, gave it a lick, and immediately backed off. He's enjoying laying on it, and I'm enjoying having a tree this year. Couldn't be happier. Like a lot of other reviewers have mentioned, it has a strong smell when you first spray it. The bottle says rosemary, but as a chef I can tell you - it doesn't smell the least bit like rosemary. It's more like lemon balm/citronella. The scent lingers for a few hours until the spray dries, but by the next day it's gone. I don't really mind it, but the cat and my boyfriend hate it. Also, it does taste terrible. While putting the tree together, I rubbed my face and got some on my mouth. It's bitter, but that's entirely the point. Just make sure to wash your hands. Good service, bad product

Arrived quickly, no complaints on the company. Maybe other people have different experiences, but this did not work at all. I smells like ginger and gets the bitter liquid all over your hands, which is fine if it worked, but I tried it in three areas and my cat didn’t change behavior. For what it’s worth, I have two cats and they can both sit, stand, and even give me high five on command, all taught with positive reinforcement, and the other is super well behaved. So, I don’t say the following without some training skills— One was where my cat went to the bathroom on the floor, to which I sprayed everywhere and it didn’t stop him (set him up with a new litter box at the same time to help the transition, but no dice). Another area was for scratching, so I sprayed it on the side of my leather couch where he scratches. You’d think he would move to another area but he scratched as normal. The final area was in the closet where he sleeps and I don’t want him to, because sometimes there is clean clothes where he lies. He didn’t even care. Super relaxed and when he comes by me he just reeks of this bitter ginger. It’s more funny to me than anything, but as for the product? Well, I hope you have better luck than me. My cat didn’t even mind when I sprayed him with it, like in the commercial. And this is a cat that is scared by water or even the wind. ... show more
