The flags have several nice features. PROS: (No CONS OBSERVED). * The high-quality Kayak Safety Flags are heavy-duty, large, necessary and easily seen at dusk, when visibility is low. Boaters often assume that everyone has gone home at dusk and that’s when the kayaker needs to be extra vigilant. The kayak sits very low in the water compared to other boats, making safety flags all the more important. Be sure to also have a life jacket and flashlight aboard! * The two very sturdy flags (one for the bow and one for the stern) feature excellent materials and superb construction. Crafted from heavy-duty, waterproof and tear-resistant 600 Denier Oxford fabric, the extra-bright red and fluorescent orange colors easily attract attention. * The bright orange “X” cross-strips have a light-reflective strip down the center, enhancing visibility. The large, impressive flags measure 12.6" in width and 12.6" in length. The sturdy attached webbing strap is 13.4" in length and easily secures the flag to a kayak. * The bright, highly-reflective flags have reinforced edges with sturdy black webbing and solid heavy-duty stitching. These are the areas of greatest wear and help to prevent fraying. Flags are required if your kayak sticks more than a couple of feet outside of your truck or trailer. These are the cheapest ones I have found and mount so easily, why wouldn't you get one?

Made of seemingly durable materials. I use the flag for tying onto the back of my kayak that hangs off the trailer or my truck's roof racks in order to make it more visible to road traffic. And visible it is! When out on the water, these can be placed on the kayak as shown in the seller's photos. I really don't use them during the day. I use another rear safety flag for that. You should always have something for making yourself visible on your kayaks on the water when in the presence of power boats. I have almost been hit by a boater during the day. At night, I have required lights on my kayak but additionally can use these flags to hang off the kayak to make myself more visible. They have reflective tape on them that is very visible at night when they catch a light source. These can also just be used in an emergency situation to flag for help. I am a former fire rescue guy with water rescue experience. At night, the more visible you are, the easier emergency responders can find you. Time will tell how well these hold up, but I expect them to do just fine. The only thing that would make these better is if they had the orange and reflective tape on the back side to make them two sided.

These safety flags are a must-have for anyone transporting kayaks, canoes, or any long gear that sticks out the back of a truck. We use them every time we load our kayaks in the bed of our truck and let them hang out the back. The flags attach quickly and securely. Ours came with a grommet and a sturdy strap/cord that loops around the handle or rear grab line of the kayak. It doesn’t flap around excessively while driving, even at highway speeds, and stays in place until we’re ready to unload. The material feels tough and durable, and even after a few rainy or muddy trips, it’s held up well with no tearing or fraying. This little addition makes a big difference in safety and legality. In many places, it’s required to have a red or orange flag marking anything that extends beyond your vehicle’s bumper, and these flags do the job perfectly. We just leave them in the truck so they’re always handy. For the price and peace of mind, these safety flags are worth every penny. It’s a simple, effective way to keep yourself—and your gear—safe on the road. Highly recommend them for fellow paddlers who transport their kayaks or canoes in a truck bed.

These flags are made from a top-quality, thick, red, plastic-backed, canvas-like material. The orange stripes are stitched in place with a black hemmed edging is also securely sewn around the outside. The reflective stripe seems to be painted down the middle of the orange stripes. The black strap loop is an easy way to securely attach the flag to the end of a kayak. I’ve used the flag for about 75 miles on two trips hauling my kayak and a couple times hauling long pieces of lumber.

Hauling kayaks, canoes, lumber, or any over-length loads requires a safety flag, and this set of two is a great value for durable, reflective flags. The sewn straps are a perfect length to run through loops and secure to your load, and the size meets our local traffic safety laws.

These are surprisingly well made travel safety flags. I particularly like the expansive use of reflecting tape along the diagonal of the flag. I plan to keep them in the trunk of my car since I frequently transport wide (a tandem bicycle) or long (canoe) items from my Mini Cooper.
