These fillable christmas tree bulbs are made of clear plastic, which is actually quite thin, and a little bit flexible. They are about the size one could consider standard for this kind of bulb. They come in two opposing halves, divided perfectly down the center on the vertical axis. At the designated top, each half has it's portion of a small tab containing a pre-cut hole where the string or hook is to be attached. When connecting the two opposing halves, be sure these tabs are properly lined up. Each half also has it's portion of the connecting grooves around it's outer rim. Since there were plenty of bulbs in this bundle, I tested a few things with one of the bulbs. This is what I found. The clear plastic material is about medium level of quality. The connecting grooves between the two halves is also medium quality, as they are thin and their grip is not super strong. I say this because I tested the material strength by tossing the bulb around a few times at different speeds, heights, and floor surfaces. A gentle toss onto carpet or a soft recliner typically will slightly loosen the connection of the two halves, but usually doesn't cause them to pop open. But you will need to re-secure that loosened connection. If tossed onto the same surfaces with a little bit of strength behind it, it has a good chance of popping apart. If tossed with more force, then of course that chance continues to increase. Then, when simply dropped from 2 or 3 feet off the floor onto a hard surface, such as linolium flooring, almost always resulted in popping apart. If gently tossed on the same hard surface, will certainly reslut in popping apart. If tossed with more strength, not only will it pop apart, but it will also have a good chance to scratch or crack. I did not have any instances so far of a crack that breaks all the way through the bulb. It appears so far to just be a visual crack under the surface most layer. However, if thrown hard enough at hard surfaces, or if thrown enough times, that would likely eventually change. To be fair, I also wouldn't expect a super strong plastic material for an item of this kind. But I certainly would expect the plastic material to be molded or shaped with a stronger connecting groove system than these have. When I tossed the bulb around for testing purposes, it was completely empty the entire time. This would suggest that care should be taken to not fill these bulbs with heavier items. Only light-weight items, preferably non-shatterable items, should be used as filling for the best outcome. Especially if you have younglings or pets that tend to get curious about the christmas tree and decorations. Now, that being said, there is no reason one couldn't or shouldn't enjoy the decorative use of these bulbs. It just means one needs to be aware of the item's limits and not exceed them if one wants the best results. 3 out of 5 stars.
