It has a nice weight to it—not too heavy, but heavy enough to feel substantial and stay in place. The clasp is secure and easy to open and close. So, I'm going to address my main concern with this necklace first and get that out of the way. While it states 14K gold filled, the base is listed as 'Metal'. That tells me this piece could be constructed from any number of common, non-precious materials like copper, brass, zinc, nickel, or aluminum. While most gold-filled jewelry is highly water-resistant, I've learned from experience that it doesn't necessarily hold up from tarnishing. Being gold filled vs. gold plated, it should hold up much better. I don't plan to wear it daily like I do with my 100% gold chain so it shouldn't be an issue. This rope chain is very stylish and the longer length makes it perfect for wearing with other shorter chains, if I want a layered look. It has a nice lobster claw clasp for a secure fit. It's thick enough but not overly thick so it doesn't look gawdy or cheap. This chain is suitable for most occasions. It comes in a pouch and nicely boxed should you want to gift it. Absolutely STUNNING PIECE! I wear this EVERY SINGLE DAY! NO TARNISHING!!! I do take off before showering or swimming just my preference! I did actually get into the shower first a few minutes once with it on and nothing happened ! It’s made extremely well! It shines brightly and it’s a solid and sturdy piece!!! Wear it plain or add a charm I do both!! Would 100x buy this chain again but with they way this one’s hanging in there I may never need to buy another unless as a gift, which is a fantastic ideas! Full disclosure: I’m not a jewelry expert. In fact, I don’t wear much jewelry at all. But I’ve helped enough people clasp necklaces to have a little familiarity with good stuff. This looks like the cheapest piece of jewelry I’ve ever seen. The clasp is cheap and hinges the wrong way, I find no indication on it that it has any real gold in it, but again - not an expert.
