Customizable Pre-Filter That Works Well for Dust and Everyday Air Cleanup I picked this up for a practical reason: sometimes the original filter material in window AC units, vents, or small air-moving appliances is either too flimsy, too expensive to replace often, or just not easy to find. This cut-to-fit carbon foam filter turned out to be a useful, low-cost option for that kind of job. What I like most is the flexibility. You get a large sheet, so it is easy to trim down for different uses instead of being stuck with one fixed size. That makes it especially handy if you have more than one appliance or if you want to experiment with using it in different spots like a window AC, vent cover, fan intake, or even as a pre-filter in front of an existing filter. I also like that it is thick enough to actually catch visible dust, lint, and hair rather than feeling like a thin decorative layer. Another plus is that it seems to do a good job as a pre-filter. I would not expect something like this to replace a true HEPA filter, but for catching larger particles and helping keep the main filter cleaner longer, it makes a lot of sense. So many things to use this for!—Air register, air conditioner, vacuum, litter box vents, air purifiers, etc. Did not come in a “roll” like I was expecting, but a sheet is still fine with me. I had to cut it up to use it anyway. Great quality, airflow was not obstructed, no smell, no cleaning, just replace!, great value.

Filter material is very dense and thick. I cut to size and put them in the air cleaner as a pre filter. Helps to clean the air better and extend the filter life. I have a spare set for when I change the pre filter out. Would definitely recommend . Update; the new smaller vacuum pack package doesn't seem like it's the same one, it is.

You will need to let it expand for a day or 2 since it comes vacuum compressed. Hanging over a shower curtain rod will work fine. One sheet was large enought to cut to fit both my large 24000 AC and my smaller 5000 AC perfectly.

I live in the south, where we have pollen that can choke an elephant. I get so tired of blowing out the filters in my Man Cave Air conditioners. This stuff is great! I just cut it to size, blow it out once or twice when needed. It's not expensive and it actually can create more of a barrier than the original filters.
