I purchased this SimpMelts 1400W melting furnace kit, and I’m extremely disappointed with the product. The PID temperature control is wildly inaccurate— it regularly overshoots the set temperature by over 100°F, making it impossible to safely melt precious metals without risking damage. The included crucible cracked after just 2 uses, and the graphite ingot mold is poorly machined, leaving my cast ingots with uneven surfaces and defects. For $249, this kit is nowhere near the quality advertised. I do not recommend this product to anyone looking for a reliable melting furnace for gold, silver, or other metals. Save your money and buy a better brand.

I specialize in restoring antique copper pipes in historical buildings. This portable furnace is simply amazing. Its ergonomic handle allows me to easily carry it up old staircases without burning my palms (unlike some bulky equipment). Last week, I melted a damaged section of a 20th-century rain pipe at 1100°C - the uniform heating of the HRE element prevented deformation. I like the LED display screen of this device as it can show real-time data; during the construction process, when I explained PID technology to the clients, they all showed great interest. An additional advantage is: After recent use, the ceramic shell has not cracked. For metal workers, it's like a Swiss Army knife - small but with industrial strength.
