  • Decent winder + bobbins - need to figure out your own setup/contraption to hold the winder
Color: Plastic Floss Bobbins + Bobbin Winder
The media could not be loaded. My wife has over 200 skeins of embroidery floss that are loose in a bin. Using them is a pain because no matter how careful we are, they keep getting tangled, which is extremely frustrating. So I took it upon myself to finally get them wound up on bobbins. This product is a fairly basic winder - I've seen many others like it on Amazon, and assume they're mostly all the same. The bobbins are also pretty standard. There were no problems and nothing to complain about. I suppose the winder itself had a very small, almost unnoticeable catch at one spot, but after a little silicone spray and general usage of the winder the catch seems to have gone away. Using the winder is pretty intuitive, but you'll need to figure out some kind of setup in order to hold the winder while you use it. I noted that some buyers used the edge of their bobbin organizer bin. I can confirm that cardboard also works well to hold it. At first I used two pieces of cardboard in an upside-down T configuration and used CA glue + activator to hold it together. I eventually added a small platform to rest my hand while I wound. This worked very well for a simple, less-than-5-minute setup. I did have to spread out the floss from each skein before I wound it, to prevent it from getting tangled. This was a little tedious to do. After about 30 skeins or so, I decided to redesign the setup and added a simple flywheel to hold the skein while I wound. It took about 30 minutes overall to put everything together with nothing but cardboard, a wooden skewer, and CA glue + activator. So far its worked very well and I've been speeding through all the skeins. I included pictures + a video of the contraption in case anyone wanted to imitate the simple design for their own winding setup. It might be a bit overkill unless you have a lot of skeins to go through. I did have fun making it, and it's made winding the bobbins a breeze! ... show more

  • What a great invention.
Color: Plastic Floss Bobbins + Bobbin Winder
Love this floss winder - just had to stick a couple empty bobbins between it and the floss case that it was attached to, to keep it from slipping off. Otherwise perfect.

  • Good, not perfect.
Color: Plastic Floss Bobbins + Bobbin Winder
I bought this because I needed the Bobbin Winder, the bobbins are good tho, don't get me wrong, but they don't hold the end of the thread like others I've gotten. You are getting a pretty good deal because they are really cheap, if it was just the price, 5 stars. Again, the bobbins wont keep the end of the thread that easy as others that aren't that cheap, but will hold the thread and it won't easily get loose. The bobbin Winder is a 5 stars btw, cheap, gets the job done, buy if you have a lot of threads. ... show more

Works extremely well and is easy to use! A great buy for winding bobbins more quickly at a very reasonable price point.

  • Easy to use

This is perfect to organize my embroidery threads. I had to wedge the slot (with blue tack) on the tool so it wouldn't keep moving while I was using it.
