Description

I preordered the game and purchased the xbox the same day. After having received the preorder, I found that the one they sent was for the wrong console. I shipped that one back and reordered another and overnighted. As a bond fan and not really a gamer, I really enjoyed the game. As a bond fan, it really checks all the boxes and pulls you in. I had the intention of playing for an hour or two and without realizing, checked my watch and found I had spent 11 hours on it without a break. I’ve never had a game do that before. The mask is cool and makes a nice display piece. I wish the dlc could be used in the story mode, but that doesn’t affect my enjoyment of the game, same way a Volvo key doesn’t affect the enjoyment of speeding down backroads in an Aston Martin vantage.

This review is primarily about the XBOX LEGACY EDITION. I reserved this item on the very first day of the pre-sale in September 2025. I followed the studio's progress on their YouTube channel, engaged with their social media accounts and remained excited for the release through the delayed launch. When the Lana Del Ray track and title sequence were announced, any doubts I had about the investment in the game itself were alleyed. So far I've only been able to play a bit due to issues I will soon detail but the game itself is great. Now, the LEGACY EDITION product itself had little information available for the $300 price tag last year. It was really just a social media image with the Golden Gun stand and a few other details, there was nothing on the Amazon listing at all actually. So it took some guts to go all-in like I did but I hoped to add to the hype and confidence in producing a great extension to the 007 stories. Fast forward to yesterday when I receive the game, in sleek and thoughtful packaging that made me consider creating some unboxing content. It looked great! However, as layer after layer were removed, reality set in. The Golden Gun stand is the piece de resistance of THE LEGACY EDITION, so essentially a $200 value. But NOPE, not at all. It's a really disappointing plastic with metal weights sloppily glued inside to make it feel heavy. The display items are only the visible half, hollow and mounted to the backing. It would probably retail for $75-$100 at absolute best by my estimate. That would include the removable 007 magnet that sits in the corner of the stand. It's actually metal and pretty cool. I'd probably pay $20-$25 for that alone. All that said, the biggest issue for me personally was that it was not clear from the pre-sale that I would not be able to play this on my XBOX Series S, which is digital only. At $300 and the top-of-the-line offering, this should absolutely include a download code. They included a download code for the Deluxe Edition in-game items, how can they justify not including one for the game itself? Having to buy it a second time brings the total expense to around $375 which is simply ridiculous. James Bond 007 fans obviously overlap with gamers substantially, but the amount that are not actively gaming is certainly at least twice as large. And not all are going to be the hardcore types that insist on machines operating physical discs. Funny to think that I probably would have accepted the previously mentioned shortcomings if a download code was included. I'll be making a return and remaining disappointed in this experience for some time.

I love the game—it’s the best James Bond game so far. As a fan of the character, I’m thrilled with what’s been achieved both technically and narratively. As for the physical edition of the game, it was my first time purchasing a special physical edition of a video game, and it was completely worth it. Both the mask (which is my favorite item) and the metal cover, along with the other accessories, are quite impressive in terms of both quality and design—an excellent addition for any collector and James Bond fan.

The name is BOND JAMES BOND! 007 First Light game is my favorite cause it has great missions and some strategies that James Bond could ever do. I recommend this game to a James Bond fan! It's a must have!!

Game is ok but this box exclusive was a HUGE waste of money. It’s cheap plastic, doesn’t even come out of the case. Feel incredibly hoodwinked here. Complete garbage. Don’t even bother and I’m a BIG 007 fan. Complete let down. I wish I had more words to describe how terrible this buy was.
