Pros: I bought one for my patio before my brother visited, and it kept the person sitting next to it warm in 40 degree outside temps while on the medium setting. Usually it lives in the basement and does a brilliant job keeping the telecommuter warm. It's light and easy to move, absolutely silent, does not take a lot of space, and it does a decent job as a basic infrared heatlamp. Cons: this is a discontinued and unsupported model with a retail price of $135 which is being resold at an outrageous price because of COVID demand. No warranty. Check the Westinghouse site, it is not there. Likely these heaters are being bought by the palette after this model was pulled from the shelves for whatever reason. Do not expect service, warranty or any kind of longevity. Also, it draws a bit more than 1500 and so it can blow fuses or burn itself out . Really wanted to love this heater! The space is under our dry deck, so covered ceiling and 3 open sides. Sitting within 5 feet and on high setting, I cannot feel the heat despite the red glow of the heating unit. This is at outdoor temperature 58-60 degrees. I didnโ€™t expect it to heat the whole space but did hope for warmth for one or two people eating at a table outdoors. This did not provide it. It is nice looking and doesnโ€™t take up much space, though. UPDATED: We continued to use this heater and now seem to be getting a good amount of heat. Still need to sit within 3-4 feet, but can definitely feel warmth and sit outside at 42 degrees F and no wind. ... show more

    • These heaters have been a lifesaver
So glad I purchased two of these heaters to help us survive COVID during the Holidays. We have moved all small gatherings to our deck and these two heaters have been exactly what we needed. Each heater needs its own plug since these are electric and it is not recommended that they run on an extension cord. I love the convenience of just plugging them in vs the propane heaters that need a gas tank to run. These are also very light weight so easy to take back downstairs when not in use. The infrared heat is very warm but works best if you can place the heater close to a chair. It would be hard to feel the heat from far away. There was some assembly required but if I could do it, anyone can. Not complicated at all. One heater has a button that is a little tricker to turn on, it has to be pushed just right.     • Does not project heat
The glass heating element is understandably fragile, so careful handling is essential. In order to enjoy the heat, one has to sit uncomfortably close. We used the heater in a garage with the entry door fully open and the garage door open about a foot at the bottom so we had good air circulation because of covid, but we were out of the wind. The outdoor temperature was in the low 40s, and the heat was not discernible unless one sat very close to the unit. We definitely had to wear warm coats, but were not uncomfortable without gloves, necessary because we were having an informal meal. This was an expensive unit, and I expected more proficient heating.     • Keeps us warm during dinners when the air is just above freezing temperature.
Weโ€™re eating dinner outdoors (in the mid-Atlantic region) during Covid, just to get a few minutes outside of the house. We erected a wind barrier and sit with this heater 2-3 feet from the edge of our table. With a light coat or hoodie, this heater keeps us both perfectly comfortable in a light coat or pullover, even when temps are in the mid-30โ€™s (F). No problem with it melting our high density plastic table even if itโ€™s close enough that our legs get a little too warm. The heater arrived at the earliest date in the delivery range. This was a good purchase. I knocked off a star because it arrived with the base dented. The seller did not have another to replace it with but offered us a discount which was decent of them. We accepted it and the heater functions perfectly

    • Average heat, if you sit close to it
Average heat, but no fan, so you must sit near it. Assembly was pretty easy, and this is totally convenient to plug-in for some extra garage heat, when we are trying to eat outside, and socially distant. The heater helps...if you are seated near it.

Picture is deceptive. Tested down to 50F. Works adequately at about 4' for two people sitting no more than 4' apart, else someone is out of heating zone.
