  • Great starter telescope
This telescope is a great starter for a kid or teenager looking to, well, look! It would be good for adults too if it is your first one or just a casual hobby. If you are looking for any kind of serious power or top quality this telescope is not it.

  • Refractor scope, less powerful than the parabolic mirror reflector types, but can use in daylight.
This is very powerful for most refractor scopes. Refractor means the image is brought closer by means of lens array. It can therefore be used in the daylight to look at birds and animals from a distance. Don't use it to spy on your neighbors though! It has a lot of power for a refractor telescope, so if you live or visit the country, mountains, or ocean, this is a great scope to really see the sights with. While powerful by day it's still pretty good at night. The image is pretty good for the planets Venus, and Mars. It can even find Saturn if you get a clear night in the country. It is better than most refractors, but does suffer the same issues with dimmer images then desired. The best high power night scopes are reflectors that take a parabolic mirror collect the image and condense it and consolidate the light then focus that on an objective lens. That can see planets clearly, an even recognize some of the features they name on the moon. This is reflective so it is not meant to be a super night scope, but for casual viewing day or night it's a good quality telescope for the price. Recommended. ... show more
