Description

Bearded Dragons in the wild receive ultraviolet light and heat from the sun on a daily basis. In order to best mimic the ultraviolet light in an indoor enclosure, high ultraviolet (UVA and UVB) output light bulbs must be used. 1 Fluorescent bulbs and mercury vapor bulbs are the two sources most commonly used in the pet world. This bulb will offer the UV light your dragon needs to thrive in it's environment.

  • Quality Mercury Vapor bulb- and ossibly the only viable competitor in the market.
I am absolutely thrilled with this product. I used to buy extremely expensive mercury vapor bulbs until I stumbled upon this which is possibily the only competitor. The quality of the bulb is great. I see several reviews with people stating the bulb "burnt out" too fast or that is shatters relatively easy. I come to find out that these bulbs have a security failsafe in them that "shuts" them off if jossled around too much to prevent explosion or fires, which is an excellent feature. I can see people viewing this as inconvienent but as any avid reptile keeper knows, a lamp that falls down or tips can give you a mini heart attack. As long as you are using a good dome lamp that can handle a max of 100 watts, you should be fine. As far as I am seeing, these bulbs are hardy. I dropped one by mistake on my hardwood floor and it did not shatter. My reptiles adore them, especially my bearded dragon. They give off a nice, pleasant light that works well with a naturalistic terrarium and make greens "pop out". They do not "whine" like other mercury vapor bulbs and do not emitt a stranded ozone-odor like other mercury vapor bulbs. I am in the process of preparing to go bio-active in my arboreal gecko enclosures and these lights give plants an extra boost, as research suggests. We will try it out and see! ... show more

  • Amazing Customer Service!
I received a defective bulb and the company was very professional, generous, and very very quick in making sure I was taken care of and my product was replaced. I was very impressed by their eagerness to make things right and make sure I was a happy, satisfied customer. The bulb itself is great. It heats up very quickly and my little beardie absolutely loves his basking spot under this bulb. I have noticed he has a lot more energy since introducing this bulb and he actually eats a lot more! Which is a relief because he just wasn't eating well before I decided to get him a better UVB bulb. However, I will say be careful with smaller tanks. This is a powerful bulb and you may need to get a stand to hover the lamp above smaller tanks so that they don't overheat. This bulb was definitely built for bigger enclosures. ... show more

  • perfect for many species of Varanus
I have used the expensive versions of this type of light and I have to say, don't buy into the expensive hype. These work PERFECTLY fine for most high-temp reptiles. I use it for my monitors and tegus and will for now till forever. Keeps them healthy, warm and overall in great health. The light isn't too bright and it gives off nice heat. ... show more

  • This Saved My Iguana
My Iguana has had a spine issue since she was a juvenile when I bought her. Once I realized she had a medical problem it was too late to fix her back. However she is a happy girl. This light saved my sanity. Just about two days after installing this light Nova showed signs of more life. Her back is growing nicely and hasnt had any new issues. 100% Worth the money although you need a large sun dome, which are easy to get and worth the money too. I reccomend this product to anyone with UVB needs. Heck even your indoor plants will love it! ... show more

  • Works great but you should read
I see a lot of people saying it broke in a small amount of use. I thought the same happened to me too. Then I realized it wouldn't turn back on while hot. So if it is hot and you shut it off don't expect it to come back on. These things are only meant for 10 hour use then shut off for the rest of the night. So it should be on a timer anyway and it shouldnt matter but I think people are wrecking the reviews due to not understanding this is a safety thing to keep the bulb working. ... show more

  • Don't buy this light!
I've bought 3 of these lights. The first 1 lasted over year as it should. The 2nd lasted about 6 months. I sent it back as per warranty instructions and have yet to hear back. The 1 I bought to replace the defective one lasted 3 days more than the return window. This product is unreliable. Sold by by someone that currently sells 2 versions of this light and Halloween costumes and that does not honor their product. just send them your money and buy a different brand of light if you feel like throwing away money. ... show more

  • Appetite comes back!!
Edit: I see a lot of people complaining that the light burned out after a few days or hours. MVB’s need a higher wattage ceramic fixture to work efficiently. You can not place an MVB in a clip on fixture rated for a 60w basking bulb. The fixture should be a heavy duty dome ceramic fixture rated at 100-150w. If the lamp is overheating quickly it is also an indication that the fixture is not the proper one. These lamps can not be placed in dimmer fixtures either. I also see a lot of people posting that their dragons are directly under the lamp at the top of the enclosure. Please do not allow the basking spot to be any closer than 12 inches from the lamp. You will burn your dragon. If more heat is needed, add a CHE on a thermostat to regulate temperature. I use a zoomed 5.5 inch mini Double Dome On a Reptile Lamp hanger with the MVB and a CHE and have had zero issues. Not to say there is never a defective bulb, but I feel most of these issues/comments are from people not educated with MVB usage. Quick shipping and bulb arrived well packaged. My beardie was new to our home and was stressed and had stopped eating and basking. This bulb made him come alive. Within 24 hours he began eating again and started basking again. His stress spots went away and he is one happy little lizard now. Thank you so much!! ... show more
