  • Good starter
I was rather curious about the TTS line from TwoTrees, so I picked up the 2.5W model, figuring I could at least reuse it for parts if it didn't work out, (yes, I'm geeky like that.) with such a small laser module, I wasn't really expecting much. I mean, sure it's boasting 10000mm/m motion speed, but what is a little 2.5W going to do at that speed?? With xTool and Atomstack pushing out 20W modules these days how does this little guy stand up? It's rather better than expected, actually. Even with the 2.5W module and no air assist, the engraving quality and cutting ability is close to if not equal that of my Ortur LM2 with an LU2-4 5W module. Cutting through 3mm plywood took about 5 slow passes at 60mm/m, while decent photo engraving was in the 4000mm/m range. Even ramped up to its max speed, it was leaving marks on the material. Faint, yes, not something particularly useful without several passes, but still impressive. The motion mechanics are pretty good. Swapping in a larger 10W optical output module, I was able to see just how stable the machine itself was at high speed. At the 7000mm/m mark, slight line variation was detectable along the edges of engravings. Note, it took looking at the lines under a microscope to see the variations, not something easily visible, and completely invisible on organic materials like wood. Adjusting the machine's parameters a bit worked to keep lines within 0.03mm when run at top speed, which is pretty close to the spec. Under the hood, the TTS25 is sporting a Makerbase DLC32 v1 variant, which sports an ESP32 chip, making it a little older design, but still rather nice. The variation though means you can't grab the reference firmware from Makerbase and expect it to work correctly. But it's not all unhappiness. You lose compatibility with TS24 touch screens, but the TS35 is still compatible. You also get all the options for adding limit switches, flame sensor, use of wifi interface, an app interface, and more goodies that geeks like me enjoy. One thing I discovered while playing around with the wifi was that, as configured, it's not possible to use with a wifi network that has anything but letters and numbers in its password. That's problematic for some people, myself included. After consulting with TwoTrees about it, the only way around this was to use a TS35 display. For some reason, the tool from Makerbase to set up wifi is just not capable. Also worth noting here is that wifi connection with Lightburn is not possible. The Makerbase boards use a custom wifi connection that answers only to their software. In this case, a built in web interface which you can access through a browser to control the TTS25. It's not very pretty, but it is functional. Exporting gcode from Lightburn and sending it to the TTS25 through its web interface works just fine. Some other items to be aware of include the cable management. It's ok, but I really don't like the rigid plastic tubing. At least TwoTrees made the effort though, even on this cheap little engraver, which is something that can't be said about much more expensive models from well known companies. The manual is spotty. It starts off well, but then seems to have been crammed together at the last minute. The belt tensioner on the X axis is a pain to set up, but works ok. The Z adjust I really liked, though it would have been nice to have a rapid method of adjustment too. On the whole, the TTS25 is a good, low cost, base model engraver with a lot of potential. At the time of this review, TwoTrees does not offer any accessories for the TTS25 beyond an expansion kit and honeycomb. So, you will have to do the work of maximizing that potential. Air assist, lifters to use a rotary, drag chain cable management, etc are all on you. But hey, you also pay a bargain basement price for an engrave. In my opinion, it's a pretty decent trade. 5 stars - Excellent/Perfect - This is the stuff right here, folks! Rare gem. 4 stars - Good/Great - Has a lot going for it, even if not perfect 3 stars - Ok - Not bad, but doesn’t have anything particularly special about it 2 stars - Not so good - More cons than pros on this little number 1 star - Don’t walk, run away - No redeeming qualities ... show more

  • Won’t do anything!
Assembled the engraver which was super easy. Installed the software, set it up, started the logo that’s included on the drive, the photo attached is all it will do. Took it apart, put back together to make sure it wasn’t me, same results! Emailed for support a few days ago and NOTHING! No response . Maybe I bought Chinese garbage and should buy a reputable brand? Someone tossed the box so I can’t return it now. Can’t find any support topics or forums or anything to look to for help. ... show more

  • The tightened piece on the tensioner module broke.
The tightened piece on the tensioner module broke. I bought this item in mid-July. The tightened piece on the tensioner module broke after very light use two months later. Customer service has been unresponsive. When I submitted this negative review, the seller flagged the review for violating community guidelines. Overall, the experience with the product and the seller has been awful. ... show more
